Please take a few moments of your time and read through my email. I became the deputy manager of a very reputable bank in the Middle East, due to my wealth of experience in banking. I hope to retire as soon as we conclude this transaction I am about to propose to you. This is a simple and straight-forward transaction with no risks involved. However, you have to assure me that what I tell you would be kept secret as if my government gets to hear, we would not only loose the money, but I would also loose my job and all the years I have put in. On August 5th 2000, Mahmoud Tareef, an Iraqi national made a call deposit in my bank to the value of US$12 million. This was to be paid into a beneficiary account on maturity, which he never mentioned. Neither did he declare a next of kin in his application. On maturity I sent a notification to his address, but got no response. When I sent someone to locate him, I learnt he died in a local hospital. I tried to trace his Next of kin through the Iraqi Embassy but it was not helpful as he was opposed to the regime of Saddam Hussein, and was for this reason sent into exile. After the war in Iraq, I sent someone to his hometown, Najaf, Iraq to find any members of his family. But all efforts to locate someone related to him proved fruitless. According to my country’s banking laws if someone dies and there is no valid claims on the money after a period of 5 years the money would be taken by the government. In view of the above facts, I want us to claim the money for ourselves rather than for it to be taken over by the government. The process is simple. All I would do is to put down your name as beneficiary to the funds in the initial paperwork. You do not need to be related to Mahmoud Tareef. As soon as the ownership of the money is transferred to you, it would subsequently be transferred to your account in your country. If you do not have an already existing account you can open one. It does not matter if it has a zero credit balance. On indication of your interest I would start the process, which would take 10 working days to conclude with your cooperation. For your assistance I would give you the sum of US$3 million once the money gets into your account and take the rest, after taking care of all the taxes. On receipt of a reply from you I would give you any further information required. Waiting for your prompt response.
