Our format
For TABU dag 2018 we accept abstracts for posters with pitch presentations. All the sessions will be plenary, which means that each presenter will have the chance to speak for 2 minutes in front of the entire audience to introduce their research. We are not going to have parallel sessions, so you have a chance to see everyone and presenters are guaranteed the full attention of all conference attendees. In addition, there is more time and space devoted to posters, which invites a deeper exchange about the research. There will be poster prizes of up to €175 for the best posters (see our tips for winning below).
Posters and presentations
Every poster will be accompanied by a 2 minute pitch presentation with 3 slides. The goal of the presentation is to introduce yourself and your research (questions), but not necessarily go into any results. The primary intent of this is to interest others in your work and to then come see your poster for an in-depth discussion of your research. There is a powerpoint presentation template available here.
Poster tips
Note that your poster can be either in landscape or portrait orientation. We compiled a little how-to list for making a (in our opinion) great poster and make everyone come talk to you about your reasearch!
- Write as little text as possible! Try to stick to less than 200 words per section, since more are probably too much to read!
- If possible, use a list of bullet points rather than a paragraph of text.
- Make your results the center of your poster! Yes, your plots can be THAT big!
- Use a bright, preferably white background for your poster.
- Use color to guide attention, but don't overdo it!
- Make the fonts big enough! When printing your A0 poster on A4, you should still be able to read everything.
- Make handouts! This could include just printing your poster on A4 or possibly adding additional information like references and stats which didn't make it onto the poster.
