Our format
TABU Dag 2020 will include both oral presentations and poster presentation sessions. Please be aware that TABU Dag is a broad linguistics conference, meaning that not everybody will be familiar with your specific subfield. Therefore, we kindly ask you to prepare your oral presentation or your poster and poster pitch so that it is accessible to an audience with little to no background in your specific field.
The slots for oral presentations are 20 minutes long, with 5 additional minutes scheduled for questions and discussion. The oral presentations will be organised into 3 parallel sessions according to presentation topic.
Poster presentation sessions will be held on both days of TABU Dag 2020. Every poster will be accompanied by a 1-minute pitch presentation. The goal of the pitch is to introduce yourself and your research, in order to interest the audience in your work and invite them for an in-depth discussion of your research.
The TABU Dag 2020 committee will reward prizes for the best abstract and the best posters!
Poster tips
We have compiled a short how-to list for creating what we consider to be a great poster. Please note that the orientation of your poster can be in either landscape or portrait mode.
- Write as little text as possible. Try to stick to less than 200 words per section!
- If possible, use bullet points rather than full paragraphs of text.
- Make your results the main focus of your poster.
- Use a lightly coloured, preferably white, background for your poster.
- Make the fonts sufficiently large. When printing your A0 poster on A4, you should still be able to read everything.
