Ever heard of Javanese script? No? Well I wouldn't blame you for not knowing because the script is very much underrated even in it's home country of Indonesia. It consists of 20 standard consonants with the inherent vowel 'a' or 'o', which you changed via diacritics. This system is similar to many indic script such as Devanagari or Tamil. Locally, it is known as "Hanacaraka" for the first five letters of the script, or "aksara Jawa". en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Javanese…

There are only about four Javanese fonts in the net, terribly little amount for a place like the internet, and most had details that made it (at least for me) quite hard to use. One was made before Javanese is included in Unicode, so the coding is off, some have designs that I'm not comfortable with, and arguably THE BEST of those available fonts had to use SIL Graphite which I don't understand at all. And even that has design bits that doesn't feel quite right.

And so ATURRA was born.

Aturra comes from Indonesian "atur" which means "ordered". This font was designed to be modern and regularly shaped, perhaps mirroring sans-serif typefaces, but not quite. It took less space than any of the previous fonts, and included features such as old variants, subscripts, and numerous conjunct consonants. Alas, I don't know how to assign Unicode numbers to the letters, so this font is basically just symbols. But hey, it's usable.

Any suggestions is greatly appreciated, and should you ever need to use it, let me know. :D

I sometimes like to regard non English writing as art and I enjoy these languages which look different from English. I like the writing style of particularly languages like Javanese, Kazakh, Hebrew, Persian and Old Russian.

Fantastic design! I really like how it combines a geometric structure with these intricate curves. Amazing script.

Thanks! Although it would be nice if it can ACTUALLY
be used for typing, so still working on that!
