Dawoodi Bohras stage a peace march

PUNE : Hundreds of Dawoodi Bohras staged a peace march from Hussainy Baug in Camp to Pune police commissionerate expressing their solidarity with the Syedi Mufaddal Saifuddin's appointment as the Syedna. A delegation of top office bearers of the city Bohras Council submitted a memorandum of support to Syedi Mufaddal Saifuddin to the Pune Police Commissionerate officials. Hoardings proclaiming support to Syedi Mufaddal Saifuddin were put up at some places in the Pune Cantonment.

The previous evening, the Dawoodi Bohra jamaat of Pune passed a resolution expressing their solidarity to Saifuddin and extended their support to their new religious leader. A signature campaign was organised till late in the evening at Pune camp, Fakhri Hills, city and Khadki, where more than 11,600 people signed the resolution.
A release issued by the Bohra community Public Relation Officer Zoher Harnesswala stated that they started walking from Hussainy Baug in a silent march via MG Road and Moledina Road to the district collector's office. The half km long procession was completely silent with the entire community in a sombre mood after the passing away of their 52nd Dai, His Holiness Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin RA. There were no banners on display, nor any sloganeering.
The resolution along with the signatures were handed over to the District Collector Vikas Deshmukh by Abdeali Nooruddin, Head of the Dawoodi Bohra community (Pune), and the representative of His Holiness Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin TUS, in Pune. A second set was handed over to the additional commissioner of police (crime) Shahaji Solunke of the city police commissionerate.
