Bookie's Club 870, also known as simply Bookie's, was a pivotal location for the development of an original alternative music scene in Detroit from early 1978 through 1981. Bookie's was Detroit's first and, for a while, only concert club for alternative/Punk rock bands. Bands which "played" at "Bookie's Club 870" include The POLICE, The ROMANTICS, JOHN CALE, ULTRAVOX, The SILLIES, The DEAD BOYS, and The DAMNED[1].
