David Abney (born c. 1956) is an American business executive. He is the chairman and chief executive officer of United Parcel Service (UPS).

Early life[edit]

Abney was born circa 1956.[1] He grew up in Greenwood, Mississippi.[2] He graduated from Delta State University in 1976.[2][3][4]

Career[edit]

Abney began his career for UPS in college.[2][3] He was chief operating officer from 2007 to 2014.[1] He has served as its chairman and chief executive officer since 2014.[1][2]

Abney formerly served on the board of directors Johnson Controls.[4]

Personal life[edit]

Abney is married to Sherry, his college sweetheart.[1] He serves on the board of his alma mater, Delta State University.[5]
