XLN Audio is a developer and supplier of audio effects and digital musical instruments used in DAWs to create or alter sound. The company's headquarter is located in Stockholm, Sweden.[2]

History[edit]

XLN Audio was founded in 2005 by Lars Erlandsson and Niklas Möller.[3] In December 2006 they released Addictive Drums which is a digital drum production studio with the purpose to simulate acoustic drum performances through a digital interface.[4]

During 2012 the company released their first non-drum related product named Addictive Keys Studio Grand, Electric Grand simulating acoustic/electric pianos and Mark One simulating the MKI.[5]

Addictive drums were in 2014 replaced with Addictive Drums 2, containing new features and letting the users record MIDI from their host into the program itself.[6]

In 2015 XLN announced two new products, Addictive Trigger which is a digital drum trigger and the DS-10 Drum Shaper which is a transient shaper.[7]

The companies latest product "RC-20 Retro Color" which was released in 2016 is a Sound effect module emulating different types of recording media such as VHS tapes and Vinyl and was used on Ariana Grande's single Thank u, next, which was revealed during a deconstruction video of the song in 2019.[8][9]
