Flesland is a village in Bergen municipality, Norway. As of January 1, 2008, its population is 335.[1]

It is the site of Bergen Airport, Flesland and Flesland Air Station.

The name[edit]

The village is named after the old farm Flesland, and the Norse form of the name was probably Flesjaland. The first element is the genitive plural of fles f 'skerry, sunken rock', the last element is land n 'land, farm'.
