WWE is an American professional wrestling promotion based out of Stamford, Connecticut. Title reigns are either determined by professional wrestling matches or are awarded to a wrestler, as a result of the culmination of various scripted storylines.

WWE promotes three primary brandsRaw, SmackDown, and NXT.[1] Specialty brands in WWE include 205 Live – for male wrestlers 205 lbs. and under (designated by WWE as cruiserweights) – and NXT UK, which is for wrestlers based in the United Kingdom.

Raw, SmackDown, and NXT each have a primary and secondary championship for male wrestlers, a singles championship for female wrestlers, and a tag team championship for male wrestlers. There is also one tag team championship for female wrestlers that is shared between the three brands. There is one championship for the cruiserweight wrestlers that is shared between 205 Live and NXT, which is the only championship with a weight limit in the promotion, and one male singles, one female singles, and one male tag team championship for NXT UK wrestlers. There is also one tertiary championship, which is accessible to anyone, regardless of gender or WWE status.

There are currently 18 championships in WWE. Among the five current brands, 23 wrestlers hold the championships as of December 8, 2019. The list includes the number of times the wrestler has held the title, the date and location of the win, and a description of the winning bout.

Current champions[edit]

At the top of WWE's championship hierarchy for male wrestlers are the WWE Championship on Raw, the WWE Universal Championship on SmackDown, and the NXT Championship on NXT — all designated as world championships. The WWE Champion is Brock Lesnar, who is in his fifth reign. He won the title by defeating Kofi Kingston during SmackDown's 20th Anniversary on October 4, 2019; on November 1, Lesnar quit SmackDown and went to Raw, taking the title with him. The Universal Championship is held by "The Fiend" Bray Wyatt, who is in his first reign. He won the title by defeating Seth Rollins at Crown Jewel on October 31, 2019 in a Falls Count Anywhere match that could not be stopped for any reason; due to The Fiend's status as a SmackDown wrestler, the title was transferred to SmackDown. The NXT Championship is held by Adam Cole, who is in his first reign. He won the title by defeating Johnny Gargano at NXT TakeOver: XXV on June 1, 2019.

Secondary titles for male wrestlers include the WWE United States Championship on Raw, the WWE Intercontinental Championship on SmackDown, and the NXT North American Championship on NXT. The United States Championship is held by Rey Mysterio, who is in his second reign. He won the title by defeating AJ Styles on Monday Night Raw on November 25, 2019. The Intercontinental Championship is held by Shinsuke Nakamura, who is in his first reign. He won the title by defeating Finn Bálor on the Extreme Rules Kickoff pre-show on July 14, 2019. The North American Championship is held by first-time title holder Roderick Strong, who defeated Velveteen Dream on the September 18, 2019 episode of NXT.

The WWE 24/7 Championship is a tertiary championship shared across all five brands and is open to anyone (including non-WWE personnel). It can be defended anytime, anywhere, as long as a WWE referee is present. The current champion is R-Truth, who is in his record 24th reign. He won the title on December 2, 2019 by pinning NASCAR driver Kyle Busch backstage after Raw; shown on WWE's website and social media accounts.

Tag team championships for male wrestlers include the WWE Raw Tag Team Championship, the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship, and the NXT Tag Team Championship. The Raw Tag Team Championship is held by The Viking Raiders (Erik and Ivar), who are in their first reign. They won the title by defeating Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode on the October 14, 2019 episode of Raw. The SmackDown Tag Team Championship is held by The New Day's Big E and Kofi Kingston, who are in their fourth reign as a team, record fifth reign for the stable, and record fifth reign for Big E individually. Big E and Kingston won the title by defeating The Revival (Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder) on Friday Night SmackDown on November 8, 2019. The NXT Tag Team Championship is held by The Undisputed Era's Kyle O'Reilly and Bobby Fish, who are in their second reign as a team, record third reign for the stable, and record third reign for O'Reilly individually. They defeated The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford) during the NXT tapings on August 15, 2019 (aired August 28).

The NXT Cruiserweight Championship is the only championship of the 205 Live brand and is also defended on NXT. It is for wrestlers 205 lb (93 kg) and under (referred to as cruiserweights); the only championship in WWE with a weight limit. The title is held by Lio Rush, who is in his first reign. He won the title by defeating former champion Drew Gulak on the October 9, 2019 episode of NXT.

At the top of WWE's championship hierarchy for female wrestlers are the WWE Raw Women's Championship, the WWE SmackDown Women's Championship, and the NXT Women's Championship – with the Raw and SmackDown titles designated as world championships. The Raw Women's Championship is held by Becky Lynch, who is in her first reign. She won the title in a Winner Takes All triple threat match involving former champion Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair (who defended the SmackDown Women's Championship) at WrestleMania 35 on April 8, 2019. The SmackDown Women's Championship is held by Bayley, who is in her second reign. She won the title by defeating Charlotte Flair on Friday Night SmackDown on October 11, 2019. The NXT Women's Championship is held by record two-time champion Shayna Baszler. She won the title by defeating Kairi Sane at Evolution on October 28, 2018.

The WWE Women's Tag Team Championship is the only tag team championship for female wrestlers in WWE, and is shared between the Raw, SmackDown, and NXT brands.[2] It is held by The Kabuki Warriors (Asuka and Kairi Sane) from Raw, who are in their first reign. They won the title by defeating former champions Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross at Hell in a Cell on October 6, 2019.

The top title of NXT UK is the WWE United Kingdom Championship. It is held by Walter, who is in his first reign. He won the title by defeating Pete Dunne at NXT TakeOver: New York on April 5, 2019, ending Dunne's reign at 685 days. The NXT UK Women's Championship is held by first-time title holder Kay Lee Ray, who won the title by defeating Toni Storm at NXT UK TakeOver: Cardiff on August 31, 2019. The NXT UK Tag Team Championship is held by Gallus (Mark Coffey and Wolfgang), who are in their first reign.
