Each section has a message box with instructions. In addition, please sign your posts with ~~~~ after your comment.

Completed requests are archived. All additions and removals are also logged.

Instructions for admins

Any admin unfamiliar with this page should probably read this first, thanks.
If in doubt, please leave a request and a spam-knowledgeable admin will follow-up.

  1. Does the site have any validity to the project?
  2. Have links been placed after warnings/blocks? Have other methods of control been exhausted? Would referring this to our anti-spam bot, XLinkBot be a more appropriate step? Is there a WikiProject Spam report? If so, a permanent link would be helpful.
  3. Please ensure all links have been removed from articles and discussion pages before blacklisting. (They do not have to be removed from user or user talk pages).
  4. Make the entry at the bottom of the list (before the last line). Please do not do this unless you are familiar with regex — the disruption that can be caused is substantial.
  5. Close the request entry on here using either {{done}} or {{not done}} as appropriate. The request should be left open for a week maybe as there will often be further related sites or an appeal in that time.
  6. Log the entry. Warning: if you do not log any entry you make on the blacklist, it may well be removed if someone appeals and no valid reasons can be found. To log the entry, you will need this number - 926718210 after you have closed the request. See here for more info on logging.

Proposed additions[edit]

cinemaroundup.com[edit]

Site being aggressively spammed, clearly not a reliable source. IP (first one) has been warned and blocked for spamming previously and continued. Ravensfire (talk) 15:07, 3 November 2019 (UTC)

techhacks.nyc[edit]

Two occurrences of said user putting the same link for self-promotion on a Wikipedia article about Brooklyn Technical High School. Included below are the (diff) pages of both occurrences. Additionally, it seems like the user profile was created solely for the purpose of inserting this link into the aforementioned Wiki article. diff1 and diff2. RayDeeUx (talk) 18:14, 3 November 2019 (UTC)

@RayDeeUx: Thank you for reporting this, but please warn the user first in such cases (I have left a message on the user's talkpage, see Template:Uw-spam2 for more information). Unless it's systematic mass spamming, fraud, or similarly serious cases, blacklisting is usually done as a last resort after initial warning(s) have been ignored.  Declined - for now. --GermanJoe (talk) 19:16, 3 November 2019 (UTC)

Cs3pay (pulsa links)[edit]

The above user added spam links to several pages. After they were banned, they returned today to revert with the two IPs. Please ban the following domains:

Noticed the domain, but saw that one of the IPs is spamming something else. Lets report and collect. billlentis.com was spammed as an SEO company ... --Dirk Beetstra T C 13:54, 6 November 2019 (UTC)

rr-fallenflags.org[edit]

It is a site with a repository of a quantity of unauthorized posting of scans with copyright issues. Here are examples of where I've manually removed them. A Google search has found that this site has been the subject of Cease & Desist letter for copyright infringement by one of the copyright owners, Caterpillar Inc.. as discussed on some fan site and another that came up in Google search. Anyways, it's used fairly extensively here and sites that have such a repository shouldn't be linked from Wikipedia until they're no longer hosting infringing contents.

gesundheit-im-leben.com[edit]

Based on the comments at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Tandarang, this spam is part of a long term abuse case and therefore likely to persist until blacklisted. Deli nk (talk) 21:13, 11 November 2019 (UTC)

classicstreamliners.com[edit]

The entire domain is nothing but aggregation of contents scraped from Wikipedia and re-posted in verbatim on a page filled to the brim with ads. Every page within that page has fine prints "Text: wikipedia.org.  Images: Public Domain; http://www.commons.wikimedia.org (unless otherwise specified) and 17 U.S. Code § 107 fair use. References: Lewis, Robert G. The Handbook of American Railroads. New York: Simmons-Boardman Publishing Corporation, 1951, 2nd Edition 1956." for example: www.classicstreamliners.com/npt-california-zephyr.html There's nothing on there that isn't scraped from Wikipedia and I am seeing them used as sources in other Wiki pages. I've removed a few already. The site serves no purpose whatsoever to have as a reference here and only serves to boost ad traffic for the webmaster. Here's an example of it being used Special:Diff/840003231 which I have removed already. Graywalls (talk) 13:33, 17 November 2019 (UTC)

Proposed removals[edit]

ritualabuse.us[edit]

I would like to have the site delisted. There are some testimonies of alleged survivors on the site and also collections of resources. I don't see how the site would constitute spam.--Sparrow (麻雀) 🐧 19:22, 31 October 2019 (UTC)

@Sparrow (麻雀):  Declined, Defer to Whitelist for specific links on this domain. I was considering to remove this 10 years after this massive case of spamming, however, I do not see any attempts in that this site was even tried to be used genuinly in that period either. My experience shows that spammers don't really stop, and some of the logitems that we have do make me worried.
Note, sites don't constitute spam, it is the owners, SEOs, others with a vested interest, or even schoolkids who uncontrollably abuse a site that make us blacklist the site. --Dirk Beetstra T C 06:37, 1 November 2019 (UTC)
@Dirk Beetstra: thanks, I'll attempt a whitelisting. I think that as long as the self promotion of the owners of the sites doesn't occur, there is no legitimate reason to blacklist the sites.--Sparrow (麻雀) 🐧 09:28, 1 November 2019 (UTC)
@Sparrow (麻雀): this appears to fail WP:RS - it's self-published and promotes a fringe view. Guy (help!) 19:01, 10 November 2019 (UTC)
Sparrow (麻雀), it was spammed, that is a very legitimate reason to blacklist it, it stops the spamming. We don’t care who spams it, unless there is a VERY legitimate reason to link to a site, this stops spamming, unlike playing Whack-a-mole with the spammers. Dirk Beetstra T C 19:07, 10 November 2019 (UTC)

aimraj.com[edit]

I would like to have the site delisted, please. Maybe there was some copyright content on the site back in 2011/2012. but now it's services is fully reorganized. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aimrajv (talkcontribs)

Not done unless you can explain to me how anything at that site would be useful to Wikipedia in terms of a reliable source for a reference. OhNoitsJamie Talk 15:09, 2 November 2019 (UTC)

Thanks for your response. this site was out of service for the last 6/7 years. now I am redeveloping to offer various useful services for free.

jsonviewer.aimraj.com speedtest.aimraj.com photoeditor.aimraj.com designer.aimraj.com imageresize.aimraj.com (web-based video editor in the pipeline) (all of them under development right now)

my intention isn't to use this site in Wikipedia as a source link. but since I started creating services for people I will do SEO if it became blacklisted in WIKi it will impact negatively in my SEO result. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aimrajv (talkcontribs) 10:41, 6 November 2019 (UTC)

Note the removal instructions above: Explain how the link can be useful on Wikipedia. We don't remove links from the blacklist unless they might be of use on Wikipedia. OhNoitsJamie Talk 13:48, 6 November 2019 (UTC)
@Aimrajv:  Declined, Defer to Whitelist for specific links on this domain. That will show us how local wikis react to some specific links with a specific goal. If that then turns out to be rather general it is time that someone considers delisting. For now, I have not seen anyone even attempting to use it in the last 7 1/2 years or so. --Dirk Beetstra T C 13:51, 6 November 2019 (UTC)

-- Explain how the link can be useful on Wikipedia. Well, in that case, I can say, I found that some of my similar services are listed in Wikipedia as source link (as an external link)

zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/JSON en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XML

We can use my XML formatter, JavaScript Formatter, JSON formatter as a source in Wikipedia ( https:// jsonviewer.aimraj.com). especially, I can create a page in Wikipedia for the web-based product design tool designer.aimraj.com/design-editor/?product_base=4&product_cms=23 or the advance photo editor tool: photoeditor.aimraj.com

Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aimrajv (talkcontribs) 12:11, 9 November 2019 (UTC)

@Aimrajv: Assuming you were referring to the links to jsonformatter.org, I have removed these links as well. Wikipedia doesn't host directories of links to personal websites, blogs, tool sites, and similar ressources (see WP:EL and WP:RS for more information about acceptable external links and reliable sources for content). "Useful" means being useful in an encyclopedic context to verify and provide relevant content, not as a mere backlink to drive traffic to such sites. Any kind of SEO or other promotional activity is prohibited here. GermanJoe (talk) 13:05, 9 November 2019 (UTC)

@GermanJoe I do completely agree with you. right now I am not trying to create backlink in Wiki. what I have done previously I felt guilty for that, when I was only 17/18 (9/10 years ago). if possible please give a 2nd thought, I am trying to do something good, something new with a big dream. if possible please remove from the blacklist. this is my last request. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aimrajv (talkcontribs) 13:19, 9 November 2019 (UTC)

No. Please promote yourself elsewhere. Kuru (talk) 13:30, 9 November 2019 (UTC)
@Aimrajv:  Declined, Defer to Whitelist for specific links on this domain (with an encyclopedic usage). I agree with the other three admins above about this request. Thank you for your transparency discussing the issue and for accepting this decision per our current guidelines - the matter is closed now. GermanJoe (talk) 13:36, 9 November 2019 (UTC)

supermemo.guru[edit]

It seems that all .guru websites are blanket blacklisted. I can easily imagine why this is the case, but in this particular situation, supermemo.guru is the website of Piotr Wozniak, creator of SuperMemo. I was editing that page, using information from supermemo.guru explaining the creator's motivations for certain features as a reference. I would like to be able to add references to supermemo.guru on the relevant pages. Thanks! -Ramzuiv (talk) 16:19, 7 November 2019 (UTC)

Logging / COIBot Instructions[edit]

Blacklist logging

Full Instructions for Admins

Quick Reference

For Spam reports or requests originating from this page, use template {{/request|0#section_name}}

  • {{/request|213416274#Section_name}}
  • Insert the oldid 213416274 a hash "#" and the Section_name (Underscoring_spaces_where_applicable):
  • Use within the entry log here.

For Spam reports or requests originating from Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Spam use template {{WPSPAM|0#section_name}}

  • {{WPSPAM|182725895#Section_name}}
  • Insert the oldid 182725895 a hash "#" and the Section_name (Underscoring_spaces_where_applicable):
  • Use within the entry log here.
Note: if you do not log your entries it may be removed if someone appeals and no valid reasons can be found.

Addition to the COIBot reports

The lower list in the COIBot reports now have after each link four numbers between brackets (e.g. "www.example.com (0, 0, 0, 0)"):

  1. first number, how many links did this user add (is the same after each link)
  2. second number, how many times did this link get added to wikipedia (for as far as the linkwatcher database goes back)
  3. third number, how many times did this user add this link
  4. fourth number, to how many different wikipedia did this user add this link.

If the third number or the fourth number are high with respect to the first or the second, then that means that the user has at least a preference for using that link. Be careful with other statistics from these numbers (e.g. good user who adds a lot of links). If there are more statistics that would be useful, please notify me, and I will have a look if I can get the info out of the database and report it. This data is available in real-time on IRC.

poking COIBot

When adding {{LinkSummary}}, {{UserSummary}} and/or {{IPSummary}} templates to WT:WPSPAM, WT:SBL, WT:SWL and User:COIBot/Poke (the latter for priviliged editors) COIBot will generate linkreports for the domains, and userreports for users and IPs.
