That the Westerwald greeting, Hui Wäller, allemol, was coined by Adolf Weiß (1861–1938) of the village of Mademühlen, for the Westerwald Club. In verses he explained how he arrived at it:

- as it blows wildy over our heaths,
- and "Wäller" is what we always [allemol] are,
- we, despite the rain, storm and wind.
