He signed with the Padres on July 1, 2018, receiving a $5,226,500 signing bonus.[6] He made his professional debut with the AZL Padres and was promoted to the Fort Wayne TinCaps in August.[7] In seven starts between the two clubs, Weathers was 0-3 with a 3.44 ERA.[8]

Weathers returned to the TinCaps to begin the 2019 season,[9] earning Midwest League All-Star honors.[10]
