Welcome!

Hello, Santanu99, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few links to pages you might find helpful:

You may also want to complete the Wikipedia Adventure, an interactive tour that will help you learn the basics of editing Wikipedia. You can visit the Teahouse to ask questions or seek help.

Please remember to sign your messages on talk pages by typing four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask for help on your talk page, and a volunteer should respond shortly. Again, welcome! See also sections

Hi there. I see you are adding content to see also sections of various articles. I suggest you read MOS:SEEALSO since most of your contributions do not follow this guidelines. For example, the list should be a bulleted list. Editors should provide a brief annotation when a link's relevance is not immediately apparent. The "See also" section should not repeat links that appear in the article's body or its navigation boxes. Best regards. --Muhandes (talk) 10:29, 6 July 2018 (UTC)

Changing dates on maintenance templates

Please don't change the dates on maintenance templates like you did here and here. These dates serve a purpose and changing them contravenes this purpose, and may be considered vandalism by others. I am assuming you did this unknowingly, but I will appreciate if you go over your older edits and restore the templates' dates. --Muhandes (talk) 10:38, 6 July 2018 (UTC)

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:22, 7 July 2018 (UTC)

Information icon Hello, I'm Muhandes. I noticed that you made one or more changes to an article, Deemed university, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. I think the de novo category needs sourced explanation too. Muhandes (talk) 11:29, 8 July 2018 (UTC)

Categories

Hi Santanu99. I want to assure you that your contributions are appreciated, even if some of them are reverted. It takes time to get familiarized with all the policies and guidelines. Regarding categories, please refer to WP:CAT and WP:CATDD. Most importantly, note that one should use the most specific categories possible. For example, Category:Universities and colleges in Nadia district is more specific than Category:Universities and colleges in West Bengal, so the latter should not be added to Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya. In general, when adding a category, please make sure a more specific category is not already present. Best regards. --Muhandes (talk) 10:10, 15 July 2018 (UTC)

A page may be created but can you provide the contents? You also need to provide links to some newspaper articles (in papers like Times/Telegraph etc.). If you have the contents ready, inform me; I shall create the page. Without the links to secondary sources (such as newspaper articles) the page will be deleted automatically. So, the references are must. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Uttam Pal (talkcontribs) 16:31, 18 July 2018 (UTC)

Information icon Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. You appear to be repeatedly reverting or undoing other editors' contributions at Central university (India). Although this may seem necessary to protect your preferred version of a page, on Wikipedia this is known as "edit warring" and is usually seen as obstructing the normal editing process, as it often creates animosity between editors. Instead of reverting, please discuss the situation with the editor(s) involved and try to reach a consensus on the talk page.

If editors continue to revert to their preferred version they are likely to be blocked from editing Wikipedia. This isn't done to punish an editor, but to prevent the disruption caused by edit warring. In particular, editors should be aware of the three-revert rule, which says that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Edit warring on Wikipedia is not acceptable in any amount, and violating the three-revert rule is very likely to lead to a block. Thank you. Muhandes (talk) 18:58, 14 October 2018 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Management Development Institute, Murshidabad

Hello Santanu99,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Management Development Institute, Murshidabad for deletion, because it seems to be promotional, rather than an encyclopedia article.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

RonBot (talk) 17:13, 19 October 2018 (UTC)

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology Allahabad and other articles different titles by copying their content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into other page with different names. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. - Tom | Thomas.W talk 12:55, 20 October 2018 (UTC)

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to disrupt Wikipedia, you may be blocked from editing. Warning for making cut-and-paste moves of multiple articles, and blanking existing articles, turning them into redirects, without prior discussion and in spite of being reverted and told to stop.Tom | Thomas.W talk 13:09, 20 October 2018 (UTC)

Wikipedia and copyright

Control copyright icon Hello Santanu99, and welcome to Wikipedia. All or some of your addition(s) to Variable Energy Cyclotron Centre have been removed, as they appear to have added copyrighted material without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues here.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are PD or compatibly licensed) it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions, the help desk or the Teahouse before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps in Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. See also Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Muhandes (talk) 23:02, 20 October 2018 (UTC)

Tata Medical Center

Hello, the context of your Tata Medical Center page is fully copied from Tata's website. You cannot copy - paste content on Wikipedia. Do the needful - write the content in your own words - and do this soon; otherwise, other editors may tag the page for deletion. Csgir (talk) 12:22, 21 October 2018 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Tata Medical Center

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Tata Medical Center requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://tata.com/aboutus/articlesinside/Tata-Medical-Center. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Speedy deletion nomination of File:Sashastra Seema Bal.svg

A tag has been placed on File:Sashastra Seema Bal.svg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a missing or corrupt image or an empty image description page for a Commons-hosted image.

Final warning for repeated (and totally undiscussed) attempts to redirect an article to an article that only covers a subset of the article that is being redirected to it. And it's at least the third attempt to do so, which combined with many, if not most, of the other edits they've made (see talk page messages), and insufficient knowledge of the English language makes this a clear case of lack of competence.Tom | Thomas.W talk 10:46, 23 October 2018 (UTC)
