Tân Uyên is a district-level town of Bình Dương Province in the Southeast region of Vietnam, about 20 miles northwest of Ho Chi Minh City. The town was formerly the southern part of Tân Uyên District, the northern part is now Bắc Tân Uyên District.

As of 2014, the town had a population of 190,564, covering an area of 192.5 km². The capital lies at Uyên Hưng.[1]

The area was already an important local centre since the Nguyen dynasty and French periods.[2][3]

Administrative divisions[edit]

Tân Uyên town is divided into 6 wards (Uyên Hưng, Tân Phước Khánh, Thái Hòa, Thạnh Phước, Tân Hiệp, Khánh Bình) and 6 communes (Hội Nghĩa, Vĩnh Tân, Phú Chánh, Tân Vĩnh Hiệp, Thạnh Hội, Bạch Đằng).[1]
