How much is it worth[edit]

We can't exactly tell how much the Japanese Yen is worth because of its constant changing values. For example the amount that a Yen is worth in USD$ can be anywhere from the ranges of .0088 and .0120 which isn't the same values. The stock prices of a Yen are always changing so it doesn't have a definite price but if you average the amount of value a Yen has in a different currency in the last 5 years that will be the closest value you can get. I hope this answers your question that is very important when deciphering the value of different currencies.

File:Japan 1870 20 Yen (alt).jpg to appear as POTD soon[edit]

Hello! This is a note to let the editors of this article know that File:Japan 1870 20 Yen (alt).jpg will be appearing as picture of the day on December 6, 2017. You can view and edit the POTD blurb at Template:POTD/2017-12-06. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page. — Chris Woodrich (talk) 04:07, 28 November 2017 (UTC)

Japanese yen
One of the first issue of coins for the Japanese yen. This coin was introduced in 1870 as part of the Meiji government's modernization program, replacing the Tokugawa coinage with silver 5-, 10-, 20- and 50-sen and 1-yen pieces, as well as gold 2-, 5-, 10- and 20-yen pieces. The 20 gold yen contained (on average) 33.33 grams of gold (0.9000 fine) and weighed 0.9645 ounces.Coin: Empire of Japan (image courtesy of the National Numismatic Collection, National Museum of American History)
