Mayerling incident[edit]

I added Mayerling incident (1889) to the list; per article's lead:

This destabilization endangered the growing reconciliation between the Austrian and Hungarian factions of the empire, which became a catalyst of the developments that led to the assassination of Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie by Gavrilo Princip, a Yugoslav nationalist and ethnic Serb, at Sarajevo in June 1914, and the subsequent drift into the First World War.

This might only marginally fit within the category, and removal from this list would not be contested. —107.15.157.44 (talk) 16:20, 20 December 2018 (UTC)
