19K ?'s[edit]

Schadenfreude. Note the group of editors laughing at Xaosflux after he made the mistake of answering a perfectly innocent-looking edit request on Talk:19 Kids and Counting.

Probably because I came across it doing protected edit request patrols. I'm getting a bit sick of it, think there are a lot of socks involved. I just put up User talk:Xaosflux/Editnotice and will have them on mute now. — xaosflux Talk 19:57, 29 May 2019 (UTC)

@Xaosflux: Oh. Glad it's not me. Face-grin.svg Suffusion of Yellow (talk) 20:16, 29 May 2019 (UTC)
I hope "Wikipedia" contacts me about their notice that they will "email Wikipedia and explain to them ... you will not fix the page"! :D — xaosflux Talk 21:47, 29 May 2019 (UTC)
@Xaosflux: I can remove those when I see them, if you like. Didn't get the last one because sometimes the second Small Orange Bar of Doom(TM) can add to the annoyance. Suffusion of Yellow (talk) 22:06, 29 May 2019 (UTC)
If they keep up, I'll temp-extprot my talk page. — xaosflux Talk 23:16, 29 May 2019 (UTC)

Dog's bollocks[edit]

Regarding this, the edit which you have described as a "test" looks like a good-faith attempt to use the rather outdated typographical convention of introducing a list with a colon followed by a dash. Example: see near the end of this, preceding the numbered list.

@Money money tickle parsnip: Thanks. Learn something every day. I was viewing it in the context of Special:Diff/902764858 from the same IP, which is either test or vandalism or spam. Suffusion of Yellow (talk) 03:47, 21 June 2019 (UTC)
Yes, good point. --Money money tickle parsnip (talk) 03:50, 21 June 2019 (UTC)

Your e-mail[edit]

I often use the same tactic to force blocked users to admit something they wouldn't otherwise do so on their own. However, in this instance, the fact that the user was an UPE should be obvious to any administrator reviewing their unblock request. That said, I'm getting a little tired of their garbage and am considering revoking TPA despite the pending unblock request.--Bbb23 (talk) 23:44, 26 June 2019 (UTC)

Well, thanks to the "my client" bit, it's obvious to everyone, now. I wonder how close the deadline was... Suffusion of Yellow (talk) 23:54, 26 June 2019 (UTC)

Something for July[edit]

Hi SoY, what do you think about this for July, I think MusikAnimal may be behind it as well. We are in need of more technical admins that can work very carefully. — xaosflux Talk 02:37, 29 June 2019 (UTC)

@Xaosflux: Face-blush.svg Honestly, even thinking about the WP:BEARPIT just scares me. Now that there will be WP:FRAM-related questions, even more so. But I'll never rule anything out. OTOH if you want to restore my testwiki access I won't object; there's something WP:BEANSy (unrelated to today's discussions) I've been meaning to test before filing a phab. Suffusion of Yellow (talk) 02:51, 29 June 2019 (UTC)
I flipped admin on at testwiki for you. Perhaps MA will stop by and give you some persuasion! As far as framgate at RfA - I can't see anyone opposing if you don't plan on reverting office actions (if you do, well it will be an interesting discussion!). — xaosflux Talk 02:57, 29 June 2019 (UTC)
@Xaosflux: Thanks! No, I wouldn't plan on reversing office actions. But I won't condemn those who did, either, and I suppose that might offend some people. Suffusion of Yellow (talk) 03:12, 29 June 2019 (UTC)
I wholeheartedly agree! You are a natural fit for this role. Framban would undoubtedly come up, but I think simply refraining from answering such questions, if you so desire, is more than acceptable. It doesn't really have anything to do with your potential as an admin. Waiting a little while wouldn't hurt either (though we could really use you as our best admins are dropping like flies...). Whenever you're ready, let me know, I'd be thrilled to (co-)nominate you :) MusikAnimal talk 17:01, 29 June 2019 (UTC)
Please consider this. We've lost 2 IAdmins and 26 admins, and we need more like you. You have my strong support --DannyS712 (talk) 17:31, 29 June 2019 (UTC)
@DannyS712 and MusikAnimal: Face-blush.svg again. I really don't think it will be July, though. Suffusion of Yellow (talk) 17:37, 29 June 2019 (UTC)
My suggestion - look at the 2 other RfA's that are running right now, and if you don't feel like there is a mob of people that are going to cause you grief for the fram-stuff, let us know? I'd be happy to jump on the co-nom wagon if MA wants to start it (saw your prior comments MA) - as I think you'd make a good 'tech admin' that will mostly stay out of the more routine drama situations. — xaosflux Talk 17:38, 30 June 2019 (UTC)
@Xaosflux: Thanks again. But I still don't think it will be July. I have a large pile of unfinished scripts on my localhost that I'd like to continue working on, and I don't want the distraction right now. Suffusion of Yellow (talk) 18:10, 30 June 2019 (UTC)

Scripts++ Newsletter – Issue 7[edit]

Saw you revert vandalism on another wiki, and your user page does not mention what topics are interesting for you. Could you perhaps name a few? And also do you program? Thanks, --Gryllida (talk) 01:43, 3 July 2019 (UTC)

@Gryllida: Not sure what you mean by topics...I generally focus on the "technical" side of things around here (edit filters, user scripts, figuring out WP:THURSDAY issues, etc.) I'm embarrassed by how little content work I do, but if I'm in the rare mood, it will probably be something to with WP:CRYPTO.
