Add new requests for a new template or updates to existing templates to the bottom of this page. Please be clear about what the template is used for, roughly what it should look like, and which articles it should link to, if any.

For requests regarding stub templates, go to Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Proposals.

A general description and guideline for userboxes can be found at Wikipedia:Userboxes. A detailed instruction to use the userbox template can be found at Template:Userbox. For requests regarding userboxes, go to Wikipedia talk:Userboxes/Ideas.

A "User wants to relocate to" template[edit]

I think that this template should be created because sometimes you want to relocate to somewhere in real life and on your user page you want to show where you are relocating to. The type of template will have a feature to add multiple places for your relocation in real life. After the first place has been put on the template it will show up as "This user wants to relocate to (Insert location name here)" For the ones after the first one, they will show up as "then to (insert location name here)". The use case for this would be absolutely minimal. In the unlikely event that anyone really feels the need to tell us their entire life plans, why can they not just type "I plan to move to Foo and after that to Bar"? ‑ Iridescent 21:58, 15 April 2019 (UTC)
{{uir}} has {{uir|option=83|region=...}} for "This user wishes to be in ...". PrimeHunter (talk) 20:24, 16 April 2019 (UTC)
@PrimeHunter I believe what's being requested is a template that will output the text "This user wants to relocate to Detroit, then to Dresden, Dublin and Dover" from {{relocateto|Detroit|Dresden|Dublin|Dover}}. ‑ Iridescent 06:56, 18 April 2019 (UTC)
Yes, but how many people would list more than one place? I guess a userbox is wanted and {{uir}} comes with many features like showing a flag for the place. A new option number could be requested for "wants to relocate to" instead of 83 for "wishes to be in". @MetricSupporter89: If you want to list multiple places then you can call {{Userbox}} directly with a custom text. I made an example call below. PrimeHunter (talk) 08:43, 18 April 2019 (UTC)
Font Awesome 5 solid truck-moving.svgThis user wants to relocate to Detroit, then to Dresden.
@MetricSupporter89: Wikipedia talk:Userboxes/Ideas might be a better place for this request. —andrybak (talk) 11:23, 14 July 2019 (UTC)

Efs start5[edit]

Hello. I've been creating articles about clubs' seasons in the Egyptian Premier League since the 2018–19 season and decided to use {{Efs start4}} to show statistics about the club's players. However, since the season is closing to end, I've noticed that the Updated function cannot be removed since it's part of the template unlike the rest, which will be something odd to include in an article about a season that ended.

So I was thinking about creating something like {{Efs start5}}? It will be literally the same but without the |updated= parameter so it can be used on articles about seasons that ended, while other users can still use {{Efs start4}}. I was going to create that template by myself but decided to discuss it here first. Thanks.

Made |updated= optional, solving your problem without making a new template Dr.Meepster(<chat> • <userboxes> • <reply>) 05:58, 10 July 2019 (UTC)

8TeamBracket-Tennis3-Byes, 8TeamBracket-Tennis5-Byes, 8TeamBracket-Tennis35-Byes[edit]

The first is best of 3 in every round, the second best of 5, and the third best of 3 in all rounds except the final which is best of 5. "Byes" indicates that byes in the first round are not shown if no team is given. There already exists 8TeamBracket-Tennis355-Byes, so it hopefully shouldn't be too difficult to transform into the above. For reference, here are compact versions with byes:

And non-compact versions without byes:

Done I've created all three templates. As a side note: I feel like a lot of these templates should be merged leaving one or a few more versitile templates so creating new ones like this won't be necessary in the future. --Trialpears (talk) 17:29, 28 July 2019 (UTC)
@Trialpears: Fantastic! Thanks. Yes I agree, having a single template for each format (3, 5, 335 etc.) but with parameters such as show_byes= and is_compact= would make things a lot simpler. Calbow (talk) 05:24, 29 July 2019 (UTC)
