04:23:44, 18 April 2019 review of submission by Philosodad[edit]

In what way are the sources for this article https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Kelly_Weinersmith not independent or reliable? One is a recognized media outlet and the other is a University page. Neither is related to the subject directly or to me. If these are not independent or reliable, what is?

Philosodad (talk) 04:23, 18 April 2019 (UTC)

Hi Philosodad. The university page is reliable, but not independent, because the information on it was supplied by Weinersmith. So it doesn't help establish notability. Space.com is independent and reliable, but not sufficient (not adequate support). Multiple reviews of creative work are expected. From the edits you've made since posing your question, I see that you're already tackling the problems the reviewer pointed out. I've left a welcome basket of links on your talk page. They may help you continue to improve the draft while waiting for the next review. --Worldbruce (talk) 16:25, 18 April 2019 (UTC)

08:39:52, 18 April 2019 review of submission by Ankurshva[edit]

I've made necessary changes. Please re-review! I've also included more than enough references. Ankurshva (talk) 08:39, 18 April 2019 (UTC)

@Ankurshva: hi. Unfortunately, I am sticking with another editor's rejection of the topic in February, and with the 2 previous declines of the topic as being non-notable. The draft also requires major cleanup; it is not written in proper encyclopedic prose, contains an essay-like "Introduction" section, and many of the references cited are either trivial or duplicates of each other. In addition, you should read WP:PAID for how to correctly disclose any paid connection to the company, assuming you have one. Thank you. SamHolt6 (talk) 16:31, 18 April 2019 (UTC)
@SamHolt6: Where can I find some help regarding it?
@Ankurshva: When you write on discussion pages (but never when editing articles), sign your posts with four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. When you publish your changes, this will automatically insert a signature with your username and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when. Moreover, notification templates don't work without a signature. With regard to your question, you may find WP:BFAQ#COMPANY informative. --Worldbruce (talk) 15:07, 20 April 2019 (UTC)

13:53:15, 18 April 2019 review of submission by BorgFabian[edit]

Hi I need guidance on how to make the BLP I posted as acceptable. I have cited COI deceleration and the article reflects voluntary efforts to achieve equality for an entire nation, which carry Head of State endorsement and a nomination for national medal of honour Gieh ir-Republika.

Please guide as I would like to learn

With best regards

18:21:37, 18 April 2019 review of draft by 71.202.0.54[edit]

What part of my submission for "System call interposition" doesn't qualify for a Wikipedia article? There are hundreds of papers written about it: https://scholar.google.com/scholar?hl=en&as_sdt=0%2C5&q=%22system+call+interposition%22&btnG= It's an important topic that I was surprised didn't have an article already, which is why I created one.

71.202.0.54 (talk) 18:21, 18 April 2019 (UTC)

@71.202.0.54: Thank you for your contribution. Novice Wikipedians writing their first articles are commonly advised to cite at least three independent, reliable sources, which contain significant coverage of their topic. The draft cites one. To gain an understanding of which sources to use, I recommend that you spend some time at Wikipedia:WikiProject Computer science. --Worldbruce (talk) 20:57, 18 April 2019 (UTC)

Why did this get rejected?

Musiclover849 (talk) 21:24, 18 April 2019 (UTC)

Hi Musiclover849. The reason the draft was rejected is given in the pink box on the draft and a corresponding mustard yellow box on your talk page. Those link to further information. More specifically, the draft fails to show that the subject meets the notability criteria for musicians, and in the reviewer's evaluation, no amount of editing can fix that problem. --Worldbruce (talk) 00:16, 19 April 2019 (UTC)

04:29:49, 19 April 2019 review of submission by DCmax1k[edit]

I would like to publish this article for a streamer of the name DCmax1k. It was rejected because the topic is not sufficiently notable for inclusion. What would make this better? DCmax1k (talk) 04:29, 19 April 2019 (UTC)

Hi DCmax1k. Rejection is the reviewer's way of saying that no amount of editing can make the draft acceptable. Please understand that unlike Facebook or LinkedIn, Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a place to write about yourself or your friends. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – please see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If and when Dylan Caldwell has done something that is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, then sooner or later someone unconnected to him will create an article about him. --Worldbruce (talk) 15:24, 20 April 2019 (UTC)

Can someone help me write the article at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:System_call_interposition - SCI is significant enough to warrant a wiki page, and there's numerous independent, reliable sources at https://scholar.google.com/scholar?hl=en&q=%22system+call+interposition%22 I'd appreciate if you can let me know how to improve it, or if you want to just go ahead and improve it that is good too.

Hello. Our page is created for digital art fans and newbie artists to see about our brand. Can you please help me edit this wiki page. We have done the best I can. Can you please tell me what we need to fix?

Thanks.

Parblo (talk) 10:33, 19 April 2019 (UTC)

So terrible interface. "You asked why this is so complicated. The reason is because this is an encyclopedia, and material in it must be verified by independent reliable sources. You should not submit unreferenced drafts. If you have substantial 3rd party independent published reliable sources, add them and resubmit. If not, wait until you do. In the meantime, you might like to learn how things aredone hereby adding sourced information--together with the references-- to existing articles. DGG ( talk ) 09:42, 19 April 2019 (UTC) "

I was thinking it is a free encyclopedia. Thanks for your service. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Zninja-rs (talkcontribs) 15:59, 19 April 2019 (UTC)

Robert Reffkin's Wikipedia Page[edit]

My name is Anna Feagan and I work for Compass, a real estate tech company. I'm posting here regarding Draft:Robert Reffkin. He is my CEO.

And I believe he is notable based on the following articles.[1][2][3].

The page was deleted for astroturfing but Robert, myself, Compass have never hired or worked with this astroturfing service, Wikibaji. With that said, will I be blocked for re-submitting a page? And what can I do to clear Robert’s name in terms of being affiliated with this astroturfing thing?

Annaelizabeth0711 (talk) 17:28, 19 April 2019 (UTC)

Annaelizabeth0711 Greetings. The Draft:Robert Reffkin was deleted as the creator, user:Wikibaji is a banned user. You could create Rober Reffkin page; however, it is highly not recommended as you have a conflict of interest here for you are a paid editor who woks for the subject. If you decide to create the article you need to create it in AfC for paid editor and the content adhere strictly with neutral point of view and non WP:PROMOTION tone/words included. You also need to disclosure your CIO and PAID in (1) your user page and (2) the draft article talk page. Pls read WP:COI, WP:PAID and see WP:DISCLOSURE the instruction on how to disclose. In addition, pls read WP:GOLDENRULE for requirements needed, and WP:Your First Article and referencing on how to write an article in Wikipedia and provide inline citations. thank you. 18:04:18, 19 April 2019 review of submission by Mistertuft[edit]

I am unclear why this article was rejected. If the article was incorrectly entered or if wikipedia finds the article not noteworthy enough? The article is identifying a podcast about tennis with 30 episodes including guests who have been the #1 tennis players in the world and won all of the major tournaments. The show appears on all of the major podcast distribution sites (google, itunes, spotify, stitcher etc). please let me know either what i am doing wrong in inputting it or what i can do to make the show more relevant in the eyes of wikipedia. thank you so much.

Mistertuft (talk) 18:04, 19 April 2019 (UTC)

@Mistertuft: - hi there.
If you click on the blue words in the reject box it will explain things in much more detail, but I'll give the summary below.
Notability isn't a judgement of importance or even true relevance. It's a judgement on acceptable levels of secondary coverage (and occasionally other criteria) - sources must be "in-depth, independent, reliable, secondary". Neither of the two sources currently in the article would meet all of these criteria.
I'd advise the following:
  1. Copy it back to your sandbox
  2. Track down 3 sources (up to 6 is fine - don't "spam" the page) that cover it in-depth, preferably with at least 2 as reviews, that have no reason to be positive towards it
  3. Add them in
  4. Look at Article Wizard - don't just click through, read each page and think "does this apply to my work".
  5. Only once you're confident, resubmit

I want to delete the draft of an article I created for Matthew Parker (author). I should have just moved it directly to the article space and want to do that instead. How can I delete it?

Lilipo25 (talk) 02:41, 20 April 2019 (UTC)

Lilipo25 Hi, Place {{Db-G7}} on top of the page and state "request for article deletion by creator" on the edit summary before saving/publish. Revisit the page and you will see a pink panel on top of the page. The page will be deleted in a few hours once you made the edit. Thank you. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 12:42, 20 April 2019 (UTC)

12:35:18, 20 April 2019 review of draft by AVMarte[edit]

Thank you. I just got the feedback of declining my draft. I really do not understand, why my references are not secondary sources who are independent e.g. a very renewed newspaper in Germany (WELT), or doit-it smart, a serious Swiss state-funded platform; or zu-daily - a journal of the Zeppelin University. I could add reference from the, again very well know TV-Channel 3 Sat on our films - see: https://pressetreff.3sat.de/programmwochen/programmwoche/12/3sat/19.03.2019/19.03.2019/bc/zeige/168a1805-1111-1111-d4ec-fe774c2d2d8a/ https://www.abendblatt.de/kultur-live/tv-und-medien/article212954005/Seychellen-Ein-Meer-von-Farben.html https://www.steinbeis-sibe.de/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/Marte-Angelica-Kurzvita.pdf https://systemische-gesellschaft.de/fachleute/angelica-marte/

Please inform accordingly, how I can improve that. Thank you so much. BR, Angelica Marte ---

17:04:25, 20 April 2019 review of submission by Cardenthusiast14[edit]

Hi Team! I have a bit of a dream to get this wiki page published about a growing a card game that's growing in popularity in Vancouver, Canada.I submitted the article and it was declined so I wanted some insight on what I need to do to resubmit it and get it approved!

The reason the editor gave for declining it was because of a lack of sources, which I am a little unclear on how I need to make it more robust so any help here would be much appreciated. The article has three sources, one of which is to a third party site where the card game is directly mentioned thus speaking to it's credibility. Cardenthusiast14 (talk) 17:04, 20 April 2019 (UTC)

Hi Cardenthusiast14. Wikipedia is not the place to "get the word out" about anything. It aims to have articles only about things that have already gained significant attention by the world at large and over a period of time, as evidenced by significant coverage in multiple, independent, reliable sources (think books, magazines, and newspapers; or their web versions).
Draft:Cactus cites two Wikipedia articles. Wikipedia, being user-generated, is not a reliable source, and should not be used as a reference. The draft also has an external link, which is not allowed in the text. Perhaps you intended it as a reference. It's about a different game, so it doesn't help show notability. --Worldbruce (talk) 21:27, 20 April 2019 (UTC)

18:03:48, 20 April 2019 review of draft by I edit things that come to mind[edit]

Hello, I have a question regarding a warning that I have on the draft that I have submitted. It says "Warning: The page Fuji TACOM redirects to Draft:Fuji TACOM. Please ensure it is not a copy or that this page is located to the correct title.". So the backstory of this draft is that I have created a page that wasn't a draft called "Fuji TACOM". When I realized my mistake by trying to submit it I got a message to move the page as a draft as it is misplaced, and so I did. In regards to the warning above, is there anything I should do further or should I just leave the draft as it is? Thank you for taking the time to answer my question.

I edit things that come to mind (talk) 18:03, 20 April 2019 (UTC)

Hi I edit things that come to mind. Thanks for asking. Cross-namespace moves can be tricky. By default, they leave behind a redirect from the old title in the old namespace. But redirects from main space to Draft space are not allowed. I've requested the speedy deletion of the unwanted redirect. When it's deleted, probably within a few hours, that will have the side effect of making the warning you're seeing go away. --Worldbruce (talk) 18:21, 20 April 2019 (UTC)

Hi - curious as to why the page for “Stephie James” I created was not accepted. There is clearly plenty of coverage on the topic, as it existed as a red link on Michael Bolton’s Wikipedia page - Michael Bolton is obviously a very famous figure and another artist mentioned on his page should be eligible. I think you’ve made a mistake.

Hi 96.48.126.147. You are referring to Mike Hindert (the article edited by MikeHindert and Merrifield Records)? And? Anthony Burulcich, Marshall Gallagher, or Patrick McWilliams? The draft was deleted for being exclusively promotional, such that it would need to be fundamentally rewritten to be neutral. The good news about that is that if, as you say, the band meets WP:BAND criterion #6, someone without a conflict of interest may be able to write an acceptable article about it. --Worldbruce (talk) 15:58, 22 April 2019 (UTC)

Request on 04:42:22, 22 April 2019 for assistance on AfC submission by Amr247rn[edit]

Hello, I was working on Draft:Constantine_Mavroudis through many revisions as I am a first time author. My last editor deleted my work, saying it was promotional. I am just new; and I am feeling defeated. I read a similar submission on Redmond Burke, also a congenital heart surgeon, and it had the same tone as my submission. I have had great feedback from previous editors and am completely willing to make suggested changes. I am gracefully asking for my article back from deletion if this is at all possible. I am hoping not to start over from scratch as I had a lot of good help up to the point of deletion. Thank you. Amr247rn (talk) 04:42, 22 April 2019 (UTC)

Amr247rn (talk) 04:42, 22 April 2019 (UTC)

Hi Amr247rn. See the essay Why was the page I created deleted?. You can follow the procedure outlined there to ask for the draft to be undeleted. But it was deleted for being exclusively promotional, such that it would need to be fundamentally rewritten to be neutral, so the deleting admin has effectively already told you that if you wish to continue writing about the topic you should start over from scratch.
You've been working on the draft for two years, and have never edited another article. Rather than rushing to recreate the draft, take some time to reflect on whether you're here to build an encyclopedia. If you are, you can find constructive ways to help at Wikipedia:Community portal. --Worldbruce (talk) 15:32, 22 April 2019 (UTC)

09:02:51, 22 April 2019 review of submission by Elurevad76[edit]

Hi, I'm wondering why this article has been declined for publication. It seems relevant in light of other entries of this nature such as https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dash_(cryptocurrency). Please advise so I can bring the article up to standard if required. Cheers, Dave Elurevad76 (talk) 09:02, 22 April 2019 (UTC)

Hi Elurevad76 The draft was rejected (unlike declined, rejected is meant to be final) for not being notable, and moreover, for being contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. Most likely, the reviewer had in mind not an advertising platform and neutral point of view. The essay WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS may help you understand why reviewers aren't swayed by comparisons with other topics. "Relevance" is not one of the criteria for determining whether a subject should be included in the encyclopedia.
General sanctions covering all content related to blockchain and cryptocurrencies were implemented in May 2018. My impression is that those sanctions have damped down the creation of new articles in the domain. It's best to take the long view. There is no deadline. In a decade or two it will have become clear whether Cardano has the lasting importance that merits inclusion in an encyclopedia, or is merely a footnote in the dustbin of history. --Worldbruce (talk) 14:58, 22 April 2019 (UTC)

I am creating a wiki page for a school and the school anthem are picked up as copyrighted eventhough it was referenced. how do I change this?

Bvbemarking (talk) 13:06, 22 April 2019 (UTC)

Hi Bvbemarking. The school anthem is the least of Draft:Hoërskool Ben Viljoen's problems. Articles should be based mainly on independent sources (not the school's website). If the draft were trimmed down to what comes from third-party sources, it would be blank. So start by finding what has been written about the school in reliable sources like books, newspapers, and magazines. See Wikipedia:WikiProject Schools/Article guidelines for more advice. --Worldbruce (talk) 14:25, 22 April 2019 (UTC)

15:18:50, 22 April 2019 review of submission by TylerJGaffney22[edit]

Essentially this is my great grandfather and I believe he deserves recognition for his discoveries, it most definitly is true that he discovered this mountain as it is well known in my family and on the wikipedia page for Mount Isherwood, which he is credited with the discovery of the mountain, thank you. TylerJGaffney22 (talk) 15:18, 22 April 2019 (UTC)

Hi TylerJGaffney22. Having a mountain named after him is considerable recognition, and he's mentioned in Mount Isherwood. It may not be possible to find sufficient independent, reliable, secondary sources to construct a biography that would meet Wikipedia's inclusion criteria.
What has been written about his work as a geophysicist on the U.S. Antarctic Research Program (USARP) South Pole-Queen Maud Land Traverse II, 1965-66, and on the Marie Byrd Land Survey 1966-67? Was he the son of Clara May Isherwood? Was he from Verona Pennsylvania? Was he a machinist's mate third class in company B of the 30th US Navy Construction Battalion, serving in the Americas during WWII? Your family and a genealogical librarian might be able to help you piece together his life story, but it's likely to be based on primary sources, so unsuitable for Wikipedia. You may wish to consider alternative outlets, such as FamilySearch, which has different inclusion criteria. --Worldbruce (talk) 16:58, 22 April 2019 (UTC)

I have added another source in English, whilst references don't have to be in English it might help to establish notability if you could find more? Also read WP:BAND. Theroadislong (talk) 15:54, 22 April 2019 (UTC)

This is a history of the tax law that affects a large portion of New York State.

It has been modified over many months with input from to conform with wikipedia standards.

Can you tell me why you/StraussInTheHouse writes: this is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia.

I would love to modify it to not be contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. It is written about in the New York Times and it simply was not documented in wikipedia for a long time but it is a part of history and should be documented similar to the tax laws in California etc.

Is it better placed in a wikimedia project? https://wikimediafoundation.org/our-work/wikimedia-projects/ Ryozzo (talk) 17:42, 22 April 2019 (UTC)

Is this source considered primary/secondary/tertiary? Is it considered reliable/unreliable? White, J.T., National Cyclopedia Of American Biography

Meweiu (talk) 20:52, 22 April 2019 (UTC)

Hi Meweiu. The National Cyclopaedia of American Biography is much like Marquis Who's Who, in that most of its content was provided by the person profiled or their family (and it doesn't say what is independent). So editors are likely to consider it comparable to a self-published source - reliable only for uncontroversial details. It would not help establish notability. --Worldbruce (talk) 05:56, 23 April 2019 (UTC)

@MJKLB: - there don't appear to be anything stated here to suggest notability, and in any case, there aren't any secondary sources to show it. Nosebagbear (talk) 19:04, 23 April 2019 (UTC)

Hi there! This article was declined because it's regarded as an advertisement. Would you allow me to explain the purpose I had for this article?

The goal of this article: to have an up-to-date summary of a series of clinical trials to fight retinal eye disease. I think it's important for stakeholders in the medical and ophthalmological world to be up to date about these developments - the statuses of these clinical trials change every few months. Other scientists can build on these advancements. Not the goal of this article: to make people buy Oxurion's product, enroll in one of their clinical trials, ...In fact, updating the information here on Wikipedia gives people a reason to not visit Oxurion's website or subscribe to a newsletter. ;-)

Moreover, this new page is a new translation of this page in Dutch which has existed for years and has the same content: https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oxurion A similar German company, Aliaxis, has similar information on its Wikipedia-page: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aliaxis

Could you please give me some advice on how to alter this article so that it wouldn't be regarded as an advertisement anymore?

Thanks in advance, have a great day,

Chiara

Hello,

It is my first time creating an article with Wikipedia and I need some clarification on the process and struggles I have had. I created Draft:Steuart_Pittman which was taken down due to lack of citations, so I solved that issue by updating the page and including citations from various sources demonstrating why the public figure has generated enough coverage to have a Wikipedia page. I have since clarified in my profile that I am an employee of Anne Arundel County Government and am creating this page at their request, as they have previously done with other public county employees/elected officials. I have also submitted an email to the address for Wikipedia permissions regarding the copyright of the content on the following website: https://www.aacounty.org/departments/county-executive/bio/index.html I and Anne Arundel County Government permit others to use this material under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-Sharealike 3.0 Unported License (CC-BY-SA) and the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) (unversioned, with no invariant sections, front-cover texts, or back-cover texts). The Wikipedia page that has been created for Steuart Pittman has our permission to use content the above website we have created. I was careful to ensure the Wikipedia page was worded differently than the bio on the county website and were found from other sources and covered different material, but as they are both bios of the same person it has been taken down for copyright, and we would like to ensure our county page gives permission to users to use that biography content and it is able to be used on Wikipedia. I wanted to check in first before I recreate the article or make any changes to ensure I am going about this process correctly and not violating any rules. I would greatly appreciate it if you could clarify this process for me and assist me in what my next steps should be. Thank you!

16:00:04, 23 April 2019 review of draft by Tha Maji[edit]

What did I do wrong? He is a real person, those sources are good, he has a decent career will plenty of connections? What is the problem? Is it because I am new? Did I mess up the formatting? I am a huge Wikipedia user as a reference and I'm just getting started and adding people I know that should be on here because they have done lots of stuff but don't know how to wiki edit and I've been meaning to learn this since wikipedia started. I've been online since Jan of 95, been reading the internet since then, I can add a lot, just need help.

What do I need to do to fix this page and get it live? I think it looks pretty good. Tha Maji (talk) 16:00, 23 April 2019 (UTC)

Tha Maji (talk) 16:00, 23 April 2019 (UTC)

Hi Tha Maji. The reviewer's comment was "Instagram and IMDb aren't WP:RS, please replace". They might also have said that The Daily Mail is not a reliable source either, per WP:DAILYMAIL. Since you didn't understand, I removed those sources for you, along with the content sourced to them. While I was under the hood, I checked the remaining sources and removed those that failed to support the content where cited, and then most of the unsupported content. Finally, I removed external links, which aren't allowed in the text. One is okay in the external links section, but seldom more. There's not much left. The subject is clearly not notable (not suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia). --Worldbruce (talk) 23:35, 23 April 2019 (UTC)

I want my draft deleted[edit]

Hi, I created draft:Rajputs of Nepal however I now realise that the quality of the article is not up to par. I have incorrectly mischaracterised most of the sources and a lot of the content that is correct would be better placed in the Rajput article as opposed to a separate article. Could it be deleted so I could try and make it again at a later date? Thanks213.205.198.130 (talk) 16:25, 23 April 2019 (UTC)

Siraj meets notability requirements as he has made significant impact in the study of minor planets, most notably because of his discovery of the first known potentially interstellar meteor, which scientists have been searching for since at least 1940.[1]

Hi, thanks for your note. How can I rework this for Wiki? I've seen other "Tourism" pages and other Visitor Convention Authorities with similar pages. I'd appreciate any tips or advice on how to make this work. Thank you! TravelGM18 (talk) 22:02, 23 April 2019 (UTC)

Hi TravelGM18. Wikipedia contains low quality articles and high quality ones. If you're using an example to create a similar article, be sure to use the best available one. Tourism in Malta is the only article in the domain rated good or better by the community, so I strongly suggest you follow its pattern, adjusting as necessary for differences between Malta and Miami Beach. Note that the "Arrivals by country" subsection and table was added after the article earned its "good" status, and might or might not be considered an improvement by reviewers. The safest course would be to not mimic that piece. --Worldbruce (talk) 23:56, 23 April 2019 (UTC)

Secondly, how do I make sure the title of the article doesnt show "sandbox" etc.

thanks Isa

I submitted a draft article about a subreddit with over 2 million subscribers. /r/atheism. I was told by someone that a subreddit is not notable enough for inclusion on wikioedia, but he then said "i could be wrong though." Note there is a reddit for the donald trump reddit, which only has 700,000 subscribers. Home come a donald trump reddit gets a wiki and an atheist one doesn't? Is wikipedia full of trump supporters?

JarodHunt (talk) 01:32, 24 April 2019 (UTC)

Hi JarodHunt Greetings. Link here your page - Draft:/r/Atheism.
Wikipedia is not affiliated with any political groups. In Wikipedia notability defines as the subjec is "worthy of notice" and it does not necessarily depend on things such as fame, importance, popularity or how many subscribers they have in utube, reddit or tweeter. The topic needs to receive significant coverage from independent, reliable sources where by the sources talk about the topic/subject in length and in dept and not only passing mentioned. Independent reliable sources such as from major newspaper would be suitable. Sources such as from home page, official website, press releases, interview, user generated sites, sources associated with the subject, marketing articles and etc are considered NOT reliable and / or not independent for such they can NOT be used to demonstrate/contribute to the nobility guidelines which is required. Do read Wikipedia:The answer to life, the universe, and everything for further detail. If you would provide the above requirement, then you could rework on the article and try again. Thank you.
