Music of Hebei[edit]

I have recently nominated this article for proposed deletion, on the grounds that it contains such a small amount of information, there is no equivalent of this page on other editions of Wikipedia, and many other articles by User:TUF-KAT have been deleted as well. Per WP:HEY, however, I believe there is a chance that we could save this article, if it is worth saving. A small chance, but a chance nonetheless. I am no expert on Chinese operas myself, so that's why I am asking here, to see if anyone knows enough about the article topic that they could make sufficient improvements to the article so that it can be prevented from being deleted. Request for information on WP1.0 web tool[edit]

Hello and greetings from the maintainers of the WP 1.0 Bot! As you may or may not know, we are currently involved in an overhaul of the bot, in order to make it more modern and maintainable. As part of this process, we will be rewriting the web tool that is part of the project. You might have noticed this tool if you click through the links on the project assessment summary tables.

We'd like to collect information on how the current tool is used by....you! How do you yourself and the other maintainers of your project use the web tool? Which of its features do you need? How frequently do you use these features? And what features is the tool missing that would be useful to you? We have collected all of these questions at this Google form where you can leave your response. Walkerma (talk) 04:24, 27 October 2019 (UTC)

Guotai[edit]

I've removed the disambiguation tag from Guotai because it isn't a disambiguation page. If there's a better category than Category:Romanization of Chinese then perhaps someone can add it. Thanks. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 14:08, 28 October 2019 (UTC)

@Shhhnotsoloud: I think you've misunderstood the page. It's not a romanization method – it's a particular name that is ambiguous in pinyin without tone marks. The page certainly looks like a disambiguation page to me. Kanguole 14:25, 28 October 2019 (UTC)
@Kanguole: Most of the targets for entries on the page don't mention "Guotai" so the page doesn't "help a reader find the right Wikipedia article when different topics could be referred to by the same search term". Rather it's an article about a particular Chinese "phrase" (is that the right word?), and I couldn't find a category similar to Category:Latin words and phrases. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 15:15, 28 October 2019 (UTC)
The Chinese names of these things do include Guótài (國泰/国泰) – it's the Chinese form of "Cathay". But this is not a notable term, and in any case Wikipedia is not a dictionary. This really is a disambiguation page. Kanguole 15:38, 28 October 2019 (UTC)

"Office selling (China)"[edit]

A couple of months ago I thought I would write this article (linked above) which is vital to both the military and economic history of the Qing but I don't think that I can "do it justice" at the moment, as I know that you're also very passionate about Chinese culture and Chinese history I could show you the two "main sources" I was planning on using, and you could pick it up if you'd ever be interested:

Note that this is not a uniquely Chinese thing as the French also did it until 1776 when they were defeated by the Prussians, but the way it was implemented in the Qing dynasty is rather unique and certainly worth writing about. --Donald Trung (talk) 18:01, 23 October 2019 (UTC)
