"I Didn't Know I Hit Him!"

So said Bob Novak after driving over a 66-year-old pedestrian with his car in midtown DC this morning.

The self-described Prince of Darkness then tried to leave the scene of the accident, but was stopped by a good Samaritan bicyclist who kept Novak at the scene until the cops arrived.

Which led Mr. Novak to blurt out this post's title quote, "I didn't know I hit him."

So, Mr. Novak, when you claim that you didn't realize that you had bounced a senior citizen off the windshield of your Mustang, one of two things is certainly true:

1. You are telling the truth when you say you didn't know you hit anyone, but you are clearly too careless a driver to keep your license.

2. You actually do know that you hit someone and were forced to lie about it when you were caught fleeing the scene of your accident.

Take your pick.

We Can't Stand Novak But We Love Portman, So...

We'll post a little pro-Portman gossip.

And gossip is all that it is.

Noted: It's Bob Novak talking about McCain world. Where are the grains of salt?

Seriously, Does Anyone Take Bob Novak Seriously?

From Bobby's latest column:

Sophisticated social conservative activists tell me they cannot vote for Giuliani under any conditions and have no rapport with McCain or Romney. They do not view Sen. Sam Brownback, representing the social right, as a viable candidate. They are coming to see Thompson as the only conservative who can be nominated. Their appreciation of him stems not from his eight years as a U.S. senator from Tennessee but his actor's role as district attorney of Manhattan on "Law and Order." That part was molded to Thompson's specifications as a tough prosecutor, lending him political star power.
"Sophisticated" conservative voters? Sophisticated?

You've been living in DC too long Bobby. You're starting to feel the need to apologize to your liberal squawker friends for your politics.

But the kicker, for us, is that Novak's "sophisticated" conservative voters "appreciate" a Thompson's run for President not because of Thompson's career in public service.

Oh no.

These "sophisticated" conservative voters appreciate a Thompson run because they like the way that Thompson's fictional TV character handled fictional TV criminals on a fictional TV drama.

That's sophisticated all right.

Paging Robert Caro.
