Most of us have ghosted someone, or been ghosted ourselves - so what would you do if they turned up on your doorstep?
A new US TV show called MTV’s Ghosted: Love Gone Missing explores this theme - but it's being criticized for encouraging stalking as it follows people who have been ghosted and are unsure why.
The eight part series, which will air on the E channel next month is from the makers of US TV show Catfish, and explores what happens when those who have been ghosted come face to face with former flames.
But many have taken to Twitter to claim that it normalizes 'stalking' and this sort of behavior could give power back to the 'cowards' that originally ghosted them.
The show, which will air on the E channel next month, explores real stories featuring real people who vanished and find out why this incredibly popular behavior has unfolded.
Hundreds of people took to Twitter to complain that the show was wrong. One said: 'A show that normalizes stalking.'
'Yeah let's make a show about being ghosted. Sounds like fun. I bet we'll have a lot of happy endings. What can go wrong?' another said.
While another explained: 'If the other person has ceased communication...that probably means they don't want you in their life.'
'But go on & barge back in with a camera crew & aggressively demand answers, how could that go wrong?'
Many have taken to Twitter to claim that is feels like 'stalking' and have complained that it normalizes that sort of behavior
While another said: 'Oh great - a TV show that encourages malignant narcissists to chase down their victims who have tried to go grey rock ... what could possibly go wrong?'
'If you're the kind of person who tracks down someone that ghosted you, you're the reason people feel the need to ghost to protect themselves in the first place.'
While others said the other premise of the show was all wrong: 'Yes, let’s give a platform for cowardly people who didn’t think it necessary nor decent to end a friendship or relationship maturely. If people wanna leave your life - LET THEM. You don’t need a coward’s explanation.'
The E channel released news of the new MTV show called Ghosted: Love Gone Missing this week
People didn't like the idea behind the show and said that it was wrong as it would encourage 'stalker' behavior towards exes
While others said they would't react well to it: 'If you show up at my door with the exes I've had to ghost, I'm getting my damn taser,' one said.
'Everyone I #Ghosted was because they are toxic and were harmful to me. If @MTV gives someone I didn’t want around me, access to me, I’m fighting the cameraman and the producers.
While others said going back to an ex is just wrong: 'No! I know ghosted is wondering what they did wrong, but no! Just get over it and move on! The best revenge is living your bets life!'
