'Even UGLIER than Crocs!' Kanye West is roasted online after unveiling foam Yeezy sandals that look JUST like the infamously unpopular clogs
- Yeezy Mafia Twitter page announced on Thursday the new Yeezy Foam Runner
- The shoe mirrors that of Crocs in a white foam design and will launch in 2020
- People online were skeptical about the new design that mirrored Crocs
- Most called the shoes 'ugly' and said they would not be buying the shoes
- But other people thought Kanye West was going to make Crocs the new trend in the same way that he helped to make dad sneakers a trend
First Kanye West helped bring the dad shoe into style, and now he is attempting to bring back the Crocs with his latest shoe launch.
But the news of the style, first revealed by Yeezy Mafia Twitter page on Thursday, has sparked a slew of critical comments from people thinking the Crocs-inspired style will not be worth the price.
The new shoe, called the Yeezy Foam Runner, is advertised to be available in 2020. Product images of the shoe showed two models riding a motorcycle while modelling the white shoe.
New trend? The Yeezy Mafia Twitter page announced on Thursday the new Yeezy Foam Runner, which resemble clog-style sandals
Interesting: The shoe, which is a white foam design set to launch in 2020, look very similar to Crocs, and that resemblance did not go unnoticed on social media
Kanye's newest shoe features a similar shape to his other tennis shoes released with Adidas, a brand he has partnered with for his Yeezy shoe line.
The difference with this shoe, though, is that it is made completely of foam formed in a cage-like design to mirror that of Crocs.
People online were not receptive to the new design, with most thinking it was a trend they could not get behind.
'Yeezy Crocs.. really?' One person commented while sharing a pie graph that showed 'things to hate'.
Another person wrote: 'I can't wait to be able to walk around in public in my regular $19.99 Crocs and point and laugh at everyone wearing $399.99 Yeezy-Crocs.'
The Twitter page, which always releases news regarding Yeezy and Adidas first, did not reveal how much Kanye would be selling the new shoes.
Harsh critics: People online were skeptical about the new design that mirrored Crocs
Unclear: The Twitter page did not reveal the price of the new shoes. But Kanye has previously priced Yeezy's between $200 and $760
Funny: One person joked Kanye should've called the shoes 'Yocs' instead
But his previous Yeezy footwear has been priced between $200 and $760.
'Hard to believe, but even uglier than Crocs,' one person wrote about the new shoes.
Another fan joked Kanye missed an opportunity on naming the new shoes Yeezy Foam Runner instead of 'Yocs', because the shoes closely resembled Crocs.
One person thought Kanye was taking on designs like the croc and the dad shoe just to prove to people the power he has over the fashion industry.
'I said this a while back but at this point, Kanye is just doing things to show that he can do them,' the person wrote, adding: 'He made dad shoes cool and now he's gonna make Crocs cool.
'No man should have all that power.'
Although the shoes faced backlash from consumers who could not see themselves buying the style, there were other people who were sold on the shoes.
Fair point: But other people thought Kanye West was going to make Crocs the new trend like how he made the dad shoes a trend
Ready to shop: Although there were criticisms over the new design, there was also some people who thought many would buy the new shoe
'I want these ugly a** yeezy crocs so I can flex on people when running errands,' one commenter wrote.
Another person believed the people hating on the shoes would still buy them when they are released next year.
'Twitter: These Yeezy Crocs Ugly AF. The Same Twitter on Release Day: 'Ight Imma Grab My Card,' the fan shared.
The shoes already have one fan, however, in the form of Kim Kardashian and Kanye's daughter North, who modeled a pair of the controversial foam runners back in June while on an outing with her mother.
At the time, the name and design of the shoe was unknown, with the Yeezy Mafia Instagram account referring to them as a 'new Yeezy prototype'.
Even then, the runners were slammed by commenters, who described them as 'hideous' and the 'ugliest f-ing shoes I have ever seen'. Similar comparisons were also made to Crocs, with some users coining funny terms like 'Croceezy'.
Whether these new Yeezy shoes will be a hit will all be determined once the shoes go on sale at some point next year.
