'And so I was there, stuck in a beach house for a month by myself, and it got depressing,' she continued.

Her recovery sparked a daily habit for the reality star, which included visits to a nearby donut shop

'So of course, we all know that I love donuts, and I love to eat,' she told the publication.

'Well, my favorite donut place in the world is in Costa Mesa, California, and it’s called Sidecar. So of course I was going there daily to Sidecar Donuts and having my cake donuts and I gained 25 pounds before the season started.'

D'Andra has been open about her facelift in previous interviews.

When speaking to People TV's Reality Check, the reality star said she missed Andy Cohen's baby shower in January because the procedure happened just two weeks prior.

'Well actually, I had a facelift on January 8, because we only get a little bit, you know, January February time off,' she said at the time. 'The day after, I got an invitation to Andy’s baby shower. I mean literally came in the mail the day after and I went, "Oh my God!"'

'But there was nothing I could do, I couldn’t go at that point,' she continued.

The procedure entailed her taking out her hair extensions for a period of time, which also influenced D'Andra's decision to miss out on the baby shower.

'When you have a facelift, you have your hair out and everything,' she said. 'I mean I didn’t even look like myself, I looked like a monster for a while.'

D'Andra decided to undergo the cosmetic procedure — which works to improve visible signs of aging in both the face and neck — to celebrate her 50th birthday.

'I did that because when I turned 50, I think everyone needs to decide what they want to do with their body and their lives,' she said.

Her mother, Dee Simmons, had a few cosmetic procedures over the years. And D'Andra said she learned to have confidence when making decisions about altering one's body from her mom.

'Of course my mother has had a few…you know she’s had a little bit of work done over the years,' she said.

'She always said, "You wanna do it, better to do it earlier than too late, because then people can notice. You just wanna wake up like you look refreshed."'
