  • The royal often shares snaps posing in glamorous outfits on her Instagram page
  • Admits she is 'not someone to wear an outfit once' and says she 'borrows' clothes

Lady Amelia Windsor has opened up about her relationship with Instagram, calling the platform 'quite toxic' and admitting the designer outfits she wears are 'mainly borrowed'.

The royal, 24, who lives in London and is 39th in line to the throne, has a following of over 81,000 on Instagram, where she often shares snaps posing in designer clothes at glamorous evening events.

But Lady Amelia has suggested that her Instagram account is just a snapshot of her life, with the eco-friendly royal revealing she tries to live as sustainably as possible and often borrows clothes from brands for events.

She added that she uses a local eco-friendly dry cleaner to keep her clothes in top shape and tries to repair the garments she has so that they last as long as possible.

She told The Telegraph that she's cynical social media, saying: 'I think it can get quite toxic if you follow likes too much.'

Lady Amelia, who graduated with a degree in Italian and French from Edinburgh University earlier this year, is the granddaughter of the Duke of Kent.

Since leaving university Amelia, who was once dubbed 'the most beautiful royal' by Tatler and is now signed to Kate Moss's former agency Storm, has juggled modelling work, fashion collaborations and writing.

The royal has a blossoming following of 81,000 followers on Instagram, where she regularly posts snaps from glamorous fashion events, as well as her adventures exploring trendy parts of London.

But despite her seeming dedication to the site, she revealed checking the social media platform is not part of her morning routine.

Instead, she starts the day by reading a book, rather than picking up her phone as soon as she wakes up.

And while it may appear from her social media that the royal has an endless wardrobe, Lady Amelia suggested that was not the reality.

Insisting that she's not the type to wear an outfit once and discard it, she said: 'The clothes that I wear on Instagram are mostly for events, which have been borrowed from different brands.'

Instead, the royal revealed she tries to live as eco-consciously as possible, and often shops for vintage in Portobello Market.

The royal revealed she often comes back to clothes after a few years, and finds they have a 'new lease of life.'
