Now high street restaurant chains are cashing in on the frenzy for Christmas menus - with eateries such as Pizza Express and Zizzi offering everything from festive burgers to turkey dinner lasagne

Christmas sandwiches have landed on supermarket shelves and festive cups have swept coffee shops across the country. 

But this year, high street restaurant chains are eager to cash in on the frenzy for festive food with many launching dedicated  Christmas menus for the first time this year. 

Zizzi, Pizza Express and Bella Italia are all releasing festive menus this year, with burger chains such as Shake Shack, Bills and Giraffe getting in on the action too. 

So where can you try an alternative take on some festive favourites? Femail reveals all... 

BELLA ITALIA'S CHRISTMAS MENU

High street favourite Bella Italia are launching a Christmas set menu, with two courses for £17.99 or three for £19.99. Their Lasagne and pizza includes turkey, pigs in blankets and cranberry sauce.

While veggies can tuck into the Roast Aubergine Rotolo, an indulgent treat adorned with crispy sage leaves. 

For something sweet, the Red Velvet Brownie, sprinkled with snowflakes and cocoa sparkle, is the perfect end to any meal. 

All of the new dishes are available on the full menu and as part of the Super Festivo Menu set menu – 3 courses and a tipple for £25.95.

Frankie and Benny's festive range features some festive classics with their famous Italian American twist.

Among the festive favourites is a meatball homage to the Christmas turkey, with some naughty and nice sweet treats and of course festive drinks to top it all off.

Feast on Turkey Meatball Carbonara and Turkey Meatball Pizza with cranberry sauce, or an indulgent Brie & Cranberry Burger.

Desserts are inspired by classic festive recipes including a creamy vegan Mince Pie No-Cheesecake.

Christmas in Japan has become synonymous with a bucket of fried chicken and is enjoyed by millions of Japanese families from November through to Christmas Day. 

Orders are made weeks in advance and massive queues form from early morning on Christmas Day itself. Inspired by this Japanese tradition, YO! is bringing the trend to the UK, with its brand-new fried chicken Christmas box, available from November 29 to New Years' Eve.

ITSU are introducing a 'Christmas cracker gyoza', which they say is a sumptuous festive feast packed into a deliciously soft steamed dumpling.

Stuffed with familiar favourites turkey, pork, bacon, sage and cranberry, itsu 'Christmas cracker gyoza' are sure to spread festive cheer, at only 302 calories.

They're also selling its'mas crackers, with one being given away in each store every day until Christmas day.

The lucky customers can expect to find in their cracker a joke, sticker and its'mas hat, as well as an exclusive itsu prize, ranging from a free 'Christmas cracker gyoza' to an itsu pink card (giving the lucky holder a year's worth of half price itsu)
