EXCLUSIVE: Mel B claims she is unemployed and her steady money stream has 'dried up' as she battles ex Stephen Belafonte over child support

Mel B has claimed she is unemployed and her steady money stream has dried up as she battles her ex-husband Stephen Belafonte over child support, according to court documents obtained by DailyMail.com.

The Spice Girl is fighting Belafonte's attempt to have the current amount of child support he receives for their daughter Madison, seven, raised from $5,000 a month.

In a filing submitted to the Superior Court of California County in Los Angeles on Monday, the singer lists her monthly income, assets and expenditures in attempt to prove she isn't making enough to pony up more cash. 

The 44-year-old writes in court documents that her income has actually decreased in recent years and that since September 2018, she hasn't had a steady income or employment. 

Although Mel B acknowledges she went on tour for three weeks with the Spice Girls over the summer, she refuses to reveal how much she made.

The papers state that Mel B 'has been looking for work both in the United States and in the United Kingdom, but unfortunately she has not been successful. 

'At the present moment, Melanie is unemployed, but she is actively looking for work.' 

In her filing, Mel included listed her income, claiming she made a monthly salary of $3,747; $64,189 in income from self employment and has $155,274 in assets.

He claimed he was 'seeking to modify child support 'given [Mel B's] income', claiming there was 'an enormous disparity in [Mel B's] and my respective income.'

Belafonte claimed Mel B earned $226,000 per month, but the Spice Girl shot back that the income estimate was based on a declaration made more than two years ago, in June of 2017.

Mel B, real name Melanie Brown, acknowledges that at that time she was working as a judge on America's Got Talent, but noted her contracted ended on September 2018 - nearly a year ago. 

Previous DailyMail.com reporting revealed that Mel B was flush with cash when she first split from Stephen Belafonte in 2017. 

She was even seen 'making it rain' fistfuls of cash inside her $27,000 a month rented Beverly Hills mansion a few months before she claimed she was left so broke by her ex husband that she had to borrow money for Christmas presents.

Forensic accountant Marie Ebersbacher found that Mel's monthly income was $194,805 per month at the time of their split while she had $4.3 million in assets.

According to the documents, Mel B had $83,002 cash in the bank, $68,873 in stocks and bonds, and $5.2 million in property including her $8 million home, $210,000 diamond engagement ring, two Rolex watches worth $80,000 and $48,000, and her $50,000 wedding ring.

Mel had listed her monthly spending at almost $113,000 including $4,493 in restaurant bills, $2,012 in entertainment, gifts and vacation, and $38,150 in rent and mortgage payments.
