Johnny Depp's former lawyers are attempting to collect their money from the troubled actor by seeking to file a lien against his property, according to court documents obtained exclusively by DailyMailTV.

The 56-year-old was hit with a lawsuit from Buckley LLP in May, alleging he had an outstanding bill of nearly $350,000 from retaining the powerhouse firm to represent him against his former lawyer Jake Bloom's entertainment law firm.

After successfully defending his case in August 2018, Buckley continued to work for Depp up until this January. The firm billed Depp for $535,697.28 but the actor only paid $187,717.39, leaving a remaining balance of $347,979.89.

Depp, who was once estimated to be worth $650 million, claimed Buckley lawyers were charging 'excessive and unreasonable' amounts, and asked for the case to be dropped.

Now, Buckley LLP has filed documents seeking for a lien to be taken out against Depp's California properties, which are worth a collective $19 million, in attempt to collect on the outstanding bill.

The Pirates of the Caribbean star is currently being represented by attorneys Randall A. Smith and Benjamin Chew from Brown Rudnick LLP.

Depp has owned a horde of properties around the world, including in the South of France and an island in the Caribbean.

In the Los Angeles area, he owns five homes in the Hollywood Hills, collectively worth around $19 million, according to the Hollywood Reporter

He first scooped up the main home in 1995, an eight bedroom 1920s-era castle-like mansion that sits on a four-acre eucalyptus grove.

The four other properties on the cul-de-sac were later added to his portfolio, including a building that was converted to a recording studio.

The most recent filing is a continuation of Depp's lengthy and costly legal troubles.

In addition to his attorney suits, he accused his former business managers of squandering away the majority of his estimated $650 million movie fortune.

He's currently in a drawn out battle with his ex wife Amber Heard, launching an extraordinary $50 million defamation suit against her in March, alleging she defamed him by writing in a Washington Post op-ed that she was a survivor of domestic abuse.

She never named Depp in it, but he claims that because their bitter divorce was so public, it inferred he had been violent towards to her - something he says is a lie.

In the most recent round of the former couple's seemingly endless court battle, Depp accused Heard of cheating on him with Elon Musk throughout the majority of their marriage.

The billionaire has since been ordered to turn over his private messages with Heard  relating to her allegations of physical abuse or domestic violence against the actor.

Court documents reveal he specifically requested correspondence from on or around May 24, 2016, the day Heard claims Depp assaulted her in their home.

Musk was also asked to turn over all 'electronic, digital, or any other recorded material whatsoever'.

Several witnesses in the defamation case have testified that Musk went to Heard and Depp's home on the day of the alleged assault.

During a deposition, Trinity Esparza, who worked for the apartment building, testified that she saw Musk there on the morning of May 24, 2016. She said Depp was out of the country at the time.

A security guard at the building, Alejandro Romero, said that Musk had visited Heard at the penthouse 'several times a week' before the alleged incident.

Musk has maintained that his relationship with Heard didn't begin until after she divorced Depp.

'Elon and Amber didn't start seeing each other until May 2016, and even then it was infrequent. Their relationship didn't become romantic until some time later,' his reps said in a statement.

Musk has not publicly responded to Depp's subpoena and it is unclear if he intends to comply.

The tech billionaire and the actress were first romantically linked in July 2016, about a month before Heard's divorce was finalized.

Musk and Heard split in August 2017, citing their busy schedules, and rekindled their relationship in January 2018 before breaking up a second time a month later.

Depp has alleged that Heard and Musk began seeing each other much earlier, about a month after their 2015 wedding.

Heard hopes to defeat Depp's defamation lawsuit by proving her allegations that her ex-husband is an alcoholic with drug problems who routinely kicked her, beat her and, at times, was so violent that she lost consciousness.

Depp denied those allegations and insisted that Heard was the violent one in their relationship, claiming that he needed to have his finger surgically reattached after she hurled a vodka bottle at him.

Heard's lawyers have asked the judge to keep the entire case under seal because, she says, she does not want private details of their friends and families' lives to become public which they inevitably will if they are submitted as part of the record.

Depp, however, says he has nothing to hide and wants to hash the entire thing out publicly.
