He could have made it back to London in time: Prince Andrew says he was at party in Woking on the date he allegedly danced with Virginia Roberts at nightclub - but theoretically he could have travelled to central London before the venue shut
- Duke said he was 'at home with the children' instead of meeting Virginia Roberts
- Prince was living with ex-wife Sarah Ferguson at Sunninghill Park home, Ascot
- Had been at Pizza Express in Woking and 'couldn't have been' at Tramp nightclub
- But Tramp is 30 mile drive from Woking so he could have arrived at last entry
The Duke has denied meeting Virginia Roberts (pictured at the alleged house of Ghislaine Maxwell) at Tramp nightclub on March 10, 2001, as he was 'at home with the children'
Prince Andrew insisted he could not have met Virginia Roberts at a famed celebrity nightclub because he had been at a party at Pizza Express earlier that day.
The timing of the late-afternoon party – attended by Princess Beatrice – at Pizza Express in Woking, Surrey, would theoretically have left time for visitors to travel the 30 miles into central London before Tramp nightclub shut in the early hours of the morning.
It is claimed that the prince and Miss Roberts – now Mrs Giuffre – danced together at the Jermyn Street venue on the night of Saturday, March 10, 2001.
Prince Andrew said it ‘couldn’t have happened’ as he was ‘at home with the children’ that day and all evening as the Duchess of York was away.
He said he remembered the event clearly because ‘going to Pizza Express in Woking is a very unusual thing for me to do.’
His claims are supported. In March 2001, he and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, lived at their 12-bed Sunninghill Park home – nicknamed ‘Southyork’ – near Ascot in Berkshire with daughters Beatrice and Eugenie.
Prince Andrew was living with his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson near Ascot in Berkshire which is roughly ten miles from Woking. He has claimed to have been at a pizza party at the restaurant chain in Woking which is a 'very unusual thing for me to do'
It is roughly ten miles from Ascot to Woking, a drive of perhaps 23 minutes. Similarly, the 30 mile drive to Tramp in Mayfair from either Woking or Ascot on a Saturday evening might take an hour and 15 minutes.
The Duchess of York appears to have been away at the time – promoting Wedgwood china in the US, where she was pictured on Friday March 9, 2001.
None of the staff at Pizza Express in Woking was there in 2001. Staff have been instructed not to speak to journalists.
Graphic shows how Tramp nightclub is roughly a 30 mile drive from Woking or Ascot but on a Saturday evening the journey could take an hour and 15 minutes
He has denied any claims that he preyed on Virginia Roberts at the Tramp nightclub in Mayfair before taking advantage of her at Ghislaine Maxwell's west London property in March 2001. He has said he did not even know where the bar was in Tramp nightclub
