Ronda Rousey breaks TWO fingers with one nearly severed while shooting 9-1-1... but never breaks character and returns to work next day

It was revealed earlier in the week that she was joining the cast of Fox's 9-1-1 for its third season. 

And it appears as though it's already been a rough start for Ronda Rousey

The 32-year-old professional wrestler broke her middle finger and nearly severed it, according while shooting a scene in Mexico last week. And she fractured the tip of her ring finger too. It all happened mid-scene, but Rousey showed her professionalism by not breaking character until the director called 'cut.'

Ronda, who was playing the role of Lena Bosko, accidentally slammed her finger in a door while shooting an intense scene. 

She took to Instagram on Tuesday to explain what had happened. 

'So the word is out I nearly lost my finger shooting @911onfox,' she said. 

'Freak accident, first take of the day a boat door fell on my hand, I thought I just jammed my fingers so I finished the take before looking (I know it sounds crazy, but I’m used to live audiences and never showing pain unless I’m supposed to) after a break in the action I told our director the situation and was rushed via ambulance to the hospital where they promptly reattached my bone and tendon with a plate and screws.'

She continued: 'I returned to filming the next day and finished my scenes before returning home to recover. Modern medicine amazes me, I already had 50% range of motion back in 3 days.' 

She added that she would be detailing more of what happened on her blog later on.  

According to TMZ sources who where there at the time,'she was a little over-exuberant and slammed the door on her finger.' 

The insider continued to say she managed the remain in full character and only expressed her pain when the scene was finished.

The outlet continued that after the director yelled, 'cut,' the former MMA fighter yelled: 'Ow. You're not gonna like this!'  

The WrestleMania fighter was taken to San Diego hospital for treatment by ambulance and her middle finger was repaired with bolts and screws.

Ronda's injury comes after it was announced last week that she would be joining the 9-1-1 cast for season three. 

According to Fox, her character Lena Bosko is a 'fearless member of the LAFD's Station 136.' 

The 32-year-old athlete joins a cast that includes Angela Bassett, Peter Krause, Oliver Stark, Aisha Hinds, Kenneth Choi, Rockmond Dunbar and Jennifer Love Hewitt.

The procedural drama, which focuses on first responders in the City of Angels, was created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Tim Minear. 

A third season trailer released Wednesday showed the team dealing with a tsunami hitting at the Santa Monica Pier. 

Ronda has previously appeared in projects such as the 2018 action film Mile 22 alongside Mark Wahlberg, the 2015 Entourage film where she played herself, 2015's Furious 7 and 2014's The Expendables 3.

The Riverside, California native rose to fame winning a bronze medal for judo at the 2008 Olympics, and going on to be the first-ever bantamweight champion of the UFC, and one of its most celebrated athletes.
