He plays a seasoned New York City firefighter in Ryan Murphy's new spin-off show 9-1-1: Lone Star.

And on Tuesday, Rob Lowe was spotted filming on location in the Big Apple.

The actor, 55, looked the part in his fire captain costume for the scenes involving an emergency call.

The set featured an ambulance, a patient on a gurney and a cast of extras in uniform.

While shooting is currently taking place in NYC, the action will soon move to out of state.

Lowe's character Owen decides to leave the NYFD and relocate to Austin, Texas, with his son where, according to Fox, he 'must try to balance saving those who are at their most vulnerable with solving the problems in his own life.'

Last week, it was announced that Liv Tyler will be joining the procedural as Chief Paramedic Michelle Blake who works alongside Owen.

The new show, on which Lowe also serves as an executive producer, is set to premiere on January 19, 2020.

While the format is familiar territory for Lowe, whose credits include The West Wing, Brothers And Sisters and Park And Recreation, it will be the first network TV series for Tyler.

The actress, 42, has most recently been seen on Hulu's The Harlots and HBO's The Leftovers.

She also stars with Brad Pitt in the interstellar drama Ad Astra which opens in movie theatres on Friday.
