Speaking to MailOnline, the star revealed that she jetted in to the UK late after having a biopsy as part of ongoing tests for an inflamed thyroid caused by Hashimoto’s disease which she has been living with for years.

'In a nutshell, I’ve had Hashimoto’s disease for 20 years, and I didn’t know that I was supposed to follow it up,' Michelle explained.

'And then it [my thyroid] grew in the past two years when I was going through a whole thing with breast implant illness.'

She continued: 'My doctor said "I want you to get it [a biopsy] before you go", and I said ‘"Can’t I just get it in January?"'

'So I went and got it, and obviously when you get a biopsy you think about it 24 hours a day,' she admitted before revealing her relief when she got the results a few days later.

'I woke up this morning and it came in benign so I was like "now I can do this". Now I’m up and dancing, I came off the plane last night and here I am today. No rest for the wicked!'

Michelle, who has previously had her breast implants removed due to breast implant illness, revealed though that her biopsy meant she had had less time to practice the first group dance of the series, admitting:

'I got off the plane and went down to the rehearsals so I could learn this number that they learned in a week and a half, I got an hour, they got a week and a half. So don’t look at me too much in the opening number!'

Michelle has previously appeared on UK screens in the 2015 series of Celebrity Big Brother, while she'll also star in the hugely anticipated RuPaul's Drag Race UK later this year.

The Anglophile has admitted she was holding out for a spot on Strictly, even turning down the popular US version of the show, Dancing With the Stars.

'I didn’t want to do Dancing with the Stars because I was waiting for Strictly,' she said. 'All I wanted to do was Strictly.'

'I had friends on Dancing With The Stars in America, so they gave me their advice, and I’m not going to take it because they didn’t get very far! '
