Ariana Grande was forced to evacuate her hotel on Thursday following a fire alert.

The American singer, 26, was staying at the swanky Blythswood Hotel in Glasgow when the alarm went off, after splashing out £2,500 a night on a penthouse suite.

While Ariana took to Instagram to lament the loud alarm, several guests also took to social media to reveal that Billy Connolly was in residence at the hotel.

Close call: Ariana Grande, 26, was forced to evacuate her penthouse room she is sharing with her pet pooches on Thursday after a fire alert in her hotel

Ariana took to Instagram Stories on Thursday to post a video of the fire alarm in the darkness of her room.

Flashing a middle finger for the camera, the pint-sized songstress simply captioned her post: 'Why.'

Ariana was reportedly staying in the penthouse suite of the lavish hotel, which charges an eye-watering £2,500 per night, and had been using a separate entrance to enter the lavish property.

MailOnline has contacted representatives for Ariana Grande and the Blythswood Hotel for comment.

Following the fire alert, several guests took to social media to reveal that they had seen Billy after being evacuated from the hotel.

Taking to Twitter Dr Martin Valentine posted: 'Meeting abandoned temporarily as fire alarm has gone off and the Blythswood hotel is emptied. On the plus side the Big Yin is here too check out his groovy shoes.'

Guest Deborah Maclachlan Dougall also told friends online: 'Everyone in the spa had to evacuate as well as the hotel guests.

'It was quite funny seeing Billy Connolly out with the rest of us. Only us would be standing wrapped up in just our robes and towels with Billy Connolly walking past us.'

It comes following reports that Ariana flew her pet pooches on her luxury private jet to Glasgow with her in a bid to help her anxiety and depression.

A source told The Sun: 'She jetted the dogs out from Birmingham and they got there three hours before she arrived.

'Ariana wanted to make sure she felt right at home and after she cancelled a number of meet-and- greets due to anxiety, they help her with that. They help to calm her nerves.'

The dog-loving superstar's two pups feature prominently on her Instagram account and she regularly updates her fans about their antics.

She adopted Myron following the tragic death of her ex Mac Miller, 26, last September and he has been by her side ever since.

The No Tears Left To Cry hitmaker admitted her anxiety and depression have been 'at an all time high lately', leading her to cancel her meet and greet before her show in Antwerp, Belgium.

In an email sent to those who were due to meet Ariana, she wrote: 'Hi my loves. Time for some honesty. My anxiety and depression have been at an all time high lately. I have been giving you all i've got and trying to push through as hard as I can and mask it.

'Today has been an extra rough one. After a handful of panic attacks, I feel like the wisest decision would be not to do sound check party or m&g today and preserve my energy for the show. I don't want to rush through our time together or seem shaky.

'I like spending actual time with you and I won't be able to be present or give you the best of me today. Anybody that had m&g or soundcheck will of course be fully reimbursed for this cancellation.

'i love you all. i'm so sorry. I promise i will give you the best show i can (sic)'.

And earlier this month, Ariana axed all meet and greets with fans on her European tour.

An email to fans explained: 'Dear Ariana Grande VIP fan. We regret to inform you that there will not be a Soundcheck party offered at your show. You will receive a partial refund in the amount of £166.

'You will still receive your premium standing ticket in the designated VIP area and gift bag. Your package will now also include early entry in the standing VIP area before standing ticket holders. We apologise for the inconvenience.'
