Felicity Jones risks her life in dramatic scenes in newly released trailer for The Aeronauts where she reunites with former co-star Eddie Redmayne

Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones are back in action for their new film The Aeronauts with thrilling scenes from the new trailer showing their characters risk their lives in a hot air balloon. 

The actors previously appeared in the Oscar-winning The Theory of Everything and are likely set for more success with their new biopic.  

In the latest trailer released for the film, Eddie, 37, and Felicity, 35, are in character in period costume as viewers see their characters meet for the first time.

The plot for The Aeronauts follows pilot Amelia Wren - played by Felicity - and scientist James Glaisher [Eddie] as they find themselves in perilous life-threatening situations while attempting to make discoveries in a hot air balloon. 

In the opening clip of the trailer, Eddie's character James says: 'Are you the widow Wren?'

'Amelia Wren, and who might you be?' she replies. 

'I'm a meteorologist. I believe the weather can be predicted. I need you and your balloon to help me,' he tells her.

While Amelia agrees to help James with his efforts, she is met with opposition from others.  

'I hated you going up in that balloon. I do not wish to loose you to anymore foolishness,' her friend tells her. 

Undeterred, Amelia says: 'It's where I have found the greatest happiness.'

The trailer shows the pair as they rise into the sky and are met with adverse weather conditions on their journey.

They managed this feat - a world record still yet to be beaten. Despite uncovering major natural phenomenon, their ascent led them into terrifying dangers.

Felicity and Eddie were both nominated for Oscars for their roles as Stephen and Jane Hawking in 2014's The Theory Of Everything.

Eddie ended up winning the gong, however Felicity was pipped to the post by Julianne Moore for her title role in Still Alice.

Both stars have gone on to front major movies in blockbuster franchises, with Eddie leading the cast of the Fantastic Beasts series and Felicity starring in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

The Aeronauts is set for a UK release on November 6, before being released in cinemas in the USA on December 6.
