Ryan Thomas and brothers Adam and Scott will join forces with their dad to star in a new ITV series exploring their family's Indian heritage

Ryan Thomas will join forces with his father Dougie and brothers Adam and Scott to star in a brand new ITV series, which will explore their family's Indian heritage.

The former Coronation Street star, 35, and twins Adam and Scott, 31 - of Emmerdale and Love Island fame respectively - will 'embark on the trip of a lifetime' to delve into their roots in the hope of seeking out long-lost relatives.

The brothers will be accompanied by their fad Dougie, a music promoter and lead singer of 70s band Dougie James and the Soul Train, as they travel to Mumbai and Goa.

Viewers will see the brothers' exceptionally close relationship – and their attempt to navigate one of the most chaotic cities in the world.

The family will arrive in Mumbai and try to get to know the culture, visiting the city's most iconic sights, and hope to seek out long lost relatives.

The journey will also take them to the beautiful tranquil beaches of Goa as they fully immerse themselves into the country that plays a huge part in their family history.

The Thomas brothers, who hail from Manchester, are all 'incredibly excited' to get filming the series, which will be produced by MultiStory Media North.

Waterloo Road and Emmerdale actor Adam said: 'A few weeks away with my dad and brothers, this is going to be the best lads' holiday ever! Get me on the plane.'

Ryan, who is expecting a baby boy with reality star fiancée Lucy Mecklenburgh, 28, added: 'We are all incredibly excited but also incredibly nervous.

'On the flip side we can't wait to find out more about our roots but we are also a little worried as we're heading into the unknown. I have no doubt it's going to be a trip we'll never forget.'

Series two Love Islander Scott said: 'This trip is going to be epic. Not only will we find out more about our Indian heritage but we'll also get to spend some quality time altogether as a family.

Ceri Aston, Creative Director, MultiStory Media North said: 'We are excited to be working with the Scott family as they bring their own unique brand of Mancunian swagger to the streets of Mumbai. It's going to be one heck of a ride.'

Earlier this week, Ryan's fiancée Lucy told her Instagram followers the couple were preparing to spend a month apart, presumably while the actor films his new show in India.

In a video shared on her Instagram account, Ryan ran along a train platform waving goodbye as Lucy pulled out of Stockport station.

Captioning the footage, the TV personality wrote: 'A month apart. Ganna miss this crazy man! @ryanthomas84 [sic],' followed by a heart emoji.

Lucy took to Instagram on the evening of her 28th birthday to announce she was expecting her first child with Ryan and debuted her blossoming baby bump in a figure-hugging red dress.

The couple later confirmed they are having a baby boy.

Ryan also raises daughter Scarlett with his ex-girlfriend and former Coronation Street co-star Tina O'Brien, 35, who he was in a relationship with for six years.
