'I hope I made you proud': Jean-Christophe Novelli shares sweet snap with son Valentino after revealing he was his motivation on Celebrity Hunted after cancer battle as a baby

Jean-Christophe Novelli shared an adorable photo with son Valentino, three, after revealing the tot was the reason behind him doing well on Celebrity Haunted.

The Celebrity chef, 58, declared 'I hope I made you proud' as he took to Twitter on Sunday to gush over his boy and thanked fans for their support following his appearance on the show.

Jean-Christophe took part in Celebrity Haunted alongside pal and fellow chef Aldo Zilli to raise money for Stand Up To Cancer, following his son's diagnosis of rare cancer, neuroblastoma, at just 10 weeks old.

The snap in question sees the star with his eyes closed as he snuggled up to his sweet son.

Captioning the image, he wrote: 'Thank you to all that helped (full list on my facebook!) Thank you for all the great messages of support to me and @AldoZilli.

'Lastly let me remind you of the reason that I was determined to do well, right from the beginning! I hope I made you proud Valentino.'

Jean-Christophe and fellow chef Also, 63, took part in the Channel 4 show alongside other celebrities in support of Stand Up To Cancer - which aims to raise funds for translational cancer research.

The cause particularly struck a cord for Jean-Christophe after his son Valentino was diagnosed with a rare childhood stage four cancer called neuroblastoma, at just 10 weeks old.

Last year he revealed his and fiancée, Michelle Kennedy's horror of finding a lump on the side of their son's neck just a few weeks after he was born in 2016.

They rushed him to A&E and a few days later experts diagnosed him with neuroblastoma after MRI scans came back showing tumours all around his neck.

During his stint on Celebrity Hunted, the star risked being caught as he and Aldo took a detour so that he could be with Michelle and their son at his regular hospital check-up.

Jean-Christophe and Aldo dramatically changed their escape plan, with the Frenchman donning disguises so that he could make the appointment in Cambridgeshire after declaring he 'hasn’t missed an appointment yet'.

The poignant move left fans of the show emotional as the pair, who in the end escaped without capture, risked it all for the special appointment.

Meanwhile, there was a further blow for the Novelli family little Valentino was recently diagnosed with autism after overcoming the aggressive childhood cancer.

During an appearance on ITV's Good Morning Britain last month, the celebrity chef praised his partner Michelle, 44, for being a tower of strength, while admitting that he had yet to assess how he was coping himself.

He told Good Morning Britain hosts Ben Shephard and Kate Garraway: 'Obviously, two weeks ago we found out the news that he is severely autistic. My wife, I don’t know how she copes. I keep saying, he’s alive. It’s another area where we don’t know how to cope.

'She does cope very well. Me personally, I don’t know. We are trying to face the situation. But we are fortunate. We are living in a great country and there’s so much done behind the scenes, the NHS are fabulous.'

And with Valentino's diagnosis, Jean-Christophe is taking a positive approach, revealing that he is just pleased his adorable toddler is still alive.

Medics told his parents he had a microdeletion syndrome, when there is a microscopic break in a person's chromosomes, when he was being treated for cancer.

Although half of people with a microdeletion live normal lives, they can have wide-ranging effects from autistic traits and heart problems to development issues.

Unfortunately little Valentino is unable to say 'Mummy' or 'Daddy', but following their cancer trauma, his parents are just grateful he is still with them.

Jean-Christophe told the Sunday Mirror earlier this month: 'It's a lot to take in. We just think oh my god, can we not just give this boy a break?

'He's been on a real long journey though and if he can beat cancer, he can handle this. He's a little fighter and we are looking on the positive side.

'When Michelle told me he has severe autism I just thought, "Thank f***, at least he's alive." Even in this situation, we are very, very privileged, we live in a great country.'

Jean-Christophe has two older boys Jean, 11, and Jacques, seven, with partner Michelle and a daughter Christina, 32, from his first marriage.
