Amanda Holden teams her glam sparkling dress with a foot brace for Regent Street's star-studded Christmas lights switch on

She's been rolling around on a scooter since breaking her leg in two places while on a family holiday to Cyprus last month.

And Amanda Holden showed she can still be glamorous even with a foot brace as she attended the switch on of the Regent Street Christmas lights on Thursday.

The Heart radio presenter, 48, put on a fashionable display in a high-neck sparkly silver mini dress for the event in London.

This year's Spirit of Christmas lights display marks a monumental year for Regent Street as it celebrates 200 years since it was named in 1819.

Amanda's appearance comes after she was left furious when her daughter Hollie's school told her that she should ask father Christmas for world peace - when she really wanted a Barbie.

She revealed the homework assignment left her seven-year-old daughter feeling distressed because she wouldn't end up with her desired gifts.

Amanda said the children were asked to pen a 'woke' Christmas letter to Father Christmas but weren't allowed to ask for material goods.

During her radio segment on Thursday: 'So her class were told they had to write all their letters to Father Christmas as part of setting out the letter thing but the were told they couldn't ask for toys.

'They kind of really had to ask for world peace and wooden flutes. All the stuff that they are really not interested in.'

Co-host Jamie Theakston quipped: 'Like a woke Christmas letter?'

Amanda continued: 'They are not allowed to ask for what they really want and it had to be a descriptive letter.'

Amanda, who is also mum to 13-year-old Alexa, revealed that her daughter returned home feeling 'pretty broken-hearted' after their teacher revealed they actually had to send the letters to Santa Claus.

She revealed what her daughter said after the news: 'Hollie said "Mummy, I don't actually want any of the things in the letter, you know I want a Barbie."

'She wants what she wants, which is totally fair enough!

'I have to say I was cross for her, I was thinking, you know, you can always write another letter but she rightfully said: ''Well then that means that Father Christmas is going to have two letters!'

'Which made me cross at the school, so I wrote in Hollie's diary and I said: 'You are wasting Father Christmas' time here because he has a whole class, like 20 odd kids, all writing fake stuff that they don't really want for Christmas!''

She mused: 'How is Father Christmas supposed to differentiate between homework letter and a genuine letter?'

After mulling over the decision Amanda revealed she rubbed out the note to Hollie's school and instead penned a letter to Father Christmas.

She explained: 'I have named the school, I have named some of the children and I have said please pay no attention to these letters they are homework letters don't waste your time!'
