Nicole was stepping out little more than a week after making the controversial decision to save one of rival Simon Cowell's acts, instead of one of her own.
The singer was accused of breaking the rules for saving Try Star - made up of rugby stars Thom Evans, Ben Foden and Levi Davis - but she has since insisted it was the right decision.
She told The Jonathan Ross Show: 'I like to break the rules. The song [they sang, "Swing Low"] has a very deep meaning in America, it’s an old black spiritual and so I just thought it was a beautiful song.

'But then I did some research and I understand that it’s the rugby anthem. I don’t know the sport very well but I love the camaraderie and the fight and the spirit and the heart.'
The band went their separate ways in 2010 following a hugely successful seven year career, during which they sold more than 54 million records worldwide.
But Nicole reveals she is back in touch with Ashley Roberts, Kimberley Wyatt, Melody Thornton, Jessica Sutta and Carmit Bachar - and a comeback could be imminent.
The brunette beauty told host Jonathan: 'I can’t confirm anything right now but I wouldn’t rule it out. We are talking.'
Asked by presenter if talking meant there was a good chance of a reunion, she added: 'Yes. We haven’t talked in many years so we are talking now…'
A potential comeback could result in the singer curtailing her various other commitments, among them judging roles on a range of talent shows.
