David Beckham reveals he is designing London-themed hotel in Macau complete with black cabs, pie and mash pub run by BFF Gordon Ramsay and a mini Big Ben

David Beckham has revealed he is helping to design a London-themed hotel in Macau, China, boasting a gastropub run by his best friend Gordon Ramsay.

The Londoner Macao is due to open in the 'Vegas of the East' next year, and will feature numerous nods to his London hometown including black cabs, a mini Big Ben and a recreation of Bond Street.

The hotel exterior will represent Westminster and the Houses of Parliament while the stunning glass atrium is modelled on Claridge's of London.

The Londoner - which Beckham is opening in partnership with Sands China - will pay tribute to the star's love of traditional British cuisine with an eaterie serving up Sunday roasts and pie and mash on-site, run by celebrity chef Gordon.

Speaking to Travel + Leisure, the ex England captain revealed he will have a key role in designing concept suites for the hotel.

He said: 'London is my hometown, so to be able to bring some of the things I love from there to Macau – that sense of energy, humor, and attitude in the furniture and artwork — is a great feeling.

'We're going to have everything from our iconic black cabs outside to mini-recreations of some of London's most famous streets inside, like Bond Street and Saville Row.'

Discussing his joint venture with old pal Gordon, 52, he said: 'Proper Sunday roasts will definitely be on the menu, as will my all-time favorite: traditional pie and mash.'

In a homage to David's iconic style, the extravagant hotel will also feature a two-floor boutique for  suit design as well as a 200-store shopping centre full of British brands, called Shoppes at The Londoner.

As well as the gastropub, there will be a selection for Portuguese and Chinese Restaurants on-site with Macau a former Portuguese colony.

Live events and screenings will be held at the hotel's Streetmosphere entertainment venue.

The Sands group are spending a reported $1.1billion on rebranding its Sands Cotai Central (SCC) into the London themed hotel.

In September, Beckham was snapped filming promotional material for the hotel alongside daughter Harper, eight.

The football icon looked lovingly at his youngest child as the pair got to work on set and met a British Bulldog during filming.   

David and Harper were met by a man dressed in a suit adorned with the Union Flag, and he led his British Bulldog on a lead.

The pet pooch also had a cape accessory designed with the Union Flag, and the dog happily met with Harper and David who pet him softly.
