'I remain grateful, my bitterness belongs to Boris Johnson (and) Conservatives at your neglect of our NHS and blatant drive to privatise.'

Earlier this month on November 13, Johnny revealed on social media that Patricia had been discharged from St Helens Whiston hospital following surgery.

His late mother underwent surgery at the beginning of the month however it is unknown what the operation was for.

Johnny previously opened up about his father Laurence Pennington's death in 2018 from cancer, saying that he hasn't mourned him, and is 'angry' with him for dying so suddenly.

In an emotional interview on Loose Women, he spoke candidly about his loss saying, 'I haven't dealt with it, I haven't mourned him yet, I've got no idea of what mourning is. I haven't had the cry yet. In fact, I'm angry at him for going as quickly as he did.'

The Benidorm star, who had tears in his eyes as he spoke, bravely gave an insight into his father's death, saying: 'I don't accept his death. I'm angry I don't think about him on a daily basis but I don't want to accept he's gone.

'I feel guilty that I don't think about him on a daily basis. Things don't go back to normal.'

The star said that following years of remission, his father's cancer came back suddenly, which left him 'too ill' to have treatment.

He said: 'We were told it was going to be quite soon. We all went into a tailspin and wanted to care for him at home. I thought it would be two weeks of crying and then I'd go back to normal, but it doesn't because he was such a fundamental part of his life. When they're gone, there's a gap you can't fill.'

Johnny said he was grateful to Macmillan Cancer Support for the support they gave his family during and after his father's cancer fight.
