The Project and Sunrise clash over which show had the REAL 'exclusive' interview with Kim Kardashian

Two rival Australian TV networks are promoting their interviews with Kim Kardashian as exclusive, perhaps misunderstanding what the word 'exclusive' means.

Channel 10 host Lisa Wilkinson told her Instagram followers on Thursday that Kim had only filmed 'one' Australian interview, and it will air on The Sunday Project.

But in an awkward twist, Kim spoke via satellite to Channel Seven's Sunrise on Friday morning, in a segment that was billed as an 'exclusive'.

Lisa's Instagram post read: 'So two weeks ago @kimkardashian decided to give one Australian TV interview for one very special reason.

'She chose The Sunday Project... and this Sunday you’ll find out the hilarious reason why. I promise, you are going to love it.'

She added: 'Let's just say, the idea behind it all is pure Aussie genius! All will be revealed on Sunday @theprojecttv!'

But on Friday, two days before The Sunday Project's airdate, Kim spoke to Sunrise hosts Sam Armytage and David Koch in what was billed as a 'breakfast TV exclusive'.

When asked about the clash, The Project Executive Producer Craig Campbell told Daily Mail Australia: 'We are the only exclusive sit down interview Kim has done, Sunrise was a satellite cross promoting her perfume.

'The Kardashians have a massive marketing machine and a number of commercial deals on the go, all of us are given airtime with Kim via the deals she has struck. It is no surprise that the timing of some of those commercial deals will cross over.

'Lisa travelled to the US to spend time with Kim on set at her invitation, our interview covers a range of topics with no questions off limits and doesn’t mention her fragrance once.'

Daily Mail Australia has contacted a representative for Seven for comment.

During her appearance on Sunrise, Kim delivered a heartfelt message to Australians affected by the bushfires.

After speaking at length about her new fragrance, Kim added: 'I just hope everyone is safe and okay after all of the fires in Australia. We're praying for you over here.'

Clearly impressed by Kim's knowledge of local events, Sam replied: 'Thank you, I think people very much appreciate that.'

'That was kind of you,' agreed David.
