Vinnie Jones has revealed his late wife Tanya arranged his New Year's Eve plans before her heartbreaking death from cancer aged 53. 

Appearing on This Morning, the footballer-turned-actor, 54, spoke candidly about her devastating passing and detailed the plans she put in place before her death, including leaving letters for him to help grieve and planning his festivities.

Speaking about Tanya, who died in July, he said: 'She planned New Year's Eve. I’m flying everyone to LA Palm Springs to celebrate our wedding anniversary, she already made the arrangements and we've got to celebrate it'.

Tanya passed away at their family home in LA after she was diagnosed with melanoma in 2013. In October, Vinnie said his wife's death was like 'being hit by a sledgehammer' and revealed he slept by her side every night she was in hospital. 

Vinnie now lives with Tanya's daughter Kayley, 32, in the house next door to his former marital home in Los Angeles. 

The couple met 25 years ago while Vinnie played for AFC Wimbledon, where he and a group of players earned notoriety as a members of the 'Crazy Gang' at the club. They married in Watford in 1994 and renewed their vows in 2007. 

Speaking about her pre-planning, she said: 'She planned New Year's Eve. I’m flying everyone to LA Palm Springs to celebrate our wedding anniversary, she already made the arrangements and we've got to celebrate it.'

Vinnie has been one of the stars of The X Factor: Celebrity and admitted when Simon Cowell approached him for the show he thought of Tanya.

He said: 'It was amazing because he phoned me in Los Angeles after Tanya passed and asked if I wanted to be on the show, she was a big fan of the show...

'I owe Simon a lot because it’s really helped me a lot... These past 6 weeks have helped me a lot, its kept me busy and helped me to focus on work'.

After his most recent performance was panned, he said: 'I just think if you work hard enough at something you can achieve your goals, when I had a second chance at being a pro footballer I took it in my arms...

'This to me is great fun I just felt last week Kevin is such a fantastic singer it would be a shame for me to go forward captain chaos having fun where this could be a massive impact on his life and career.'

With sights to winning, Vinnie admits he wants to win to raise money for Harefield Hospital, where Tanya had a heart transplant.  

He said: 'I do [want to win] now, and I’ve got obligations. my wife had a heart transplant at Harefield Hospital I’ve got an obligation to make money to give all proceeds to them'.
