Lumley's honour is 'Ab Fab'

ABSOLUTELY Fabulous star Joanna Lumley was in Belfast today to be honoured for services to stage and screen.

The glamorous star got an honorary doctorate at Queen's University, where she was hailed as "one of the most iconic female actresses of our time".


The institution's pro-chancellor Rotha Johnson added: "In an outstanding and dazzling career spanning over 30 years Joanna has played many powerful and unforgettable roles on the small and large screen."

The actress has strong Ulster connections as she has spent a lot of time in Belfast with her artistic director husband Stephen Barlow.

Class act

After featuring in The New Avengers and Sapphire and Steel, Lumley is best-known for her portrayal of booze-addled as Patsy Stone in Absolutely Fabulous.

Lumley today manages to fit in campaigning for human rights and animal rights with her career and is associated with more than 50 charities.
