A new flagship for the Nissan Micra range, the 110PS Sport SR, will be launched at the British International Motor Show.

The Micra range will also be revised into three models – Initia, Spirita and Sport – while the engine range will be cut to four.

The existing E and S models will be replaced by the Initia with a choice of either 80PS 1.2-litre petrol or 86PS 1.5-litre dCi diesel engines.  The Initia starts from £8,995 – the same as the S it replaces – and includes side airbags, rear headrests and front active headrests, CD player, electric front windows, rear sliding seat, central locking, and ISOFIX child-seat mounting points.  The five-door version is available for an extra £650, with an automatic transmission available for £900 for the petrol and £1,100 for the diesel.

The Spirita model is available for an extra £1,000, and adds trip computer, leather steering wheel with audio controls, electric door mirrors, one touch electric windows, air conditioning, 15-inch wheels, six speakers, a storage area under the passenger seat and a multi-function glovebox.  In addition to the 80PS 1.2 and 86PS 1.5dCi, it’s also available with an 88PS 1.4-litre petrol engine for an extra £200.

Three option packs are available: the £350 Clever Pack adds rain sensing wipers, automatic lighting and Nissan’s Intelligent Key system. The £1,200 Luxury Pack includes the Clever Pack but adds automatic climate control, electric glass sunroof and 15-inch alloy wheels. Finally the £1,200 Comfort Pack includes the Luxury Pack but replaces alloy wheels with leather upholstery and heated front seats.

The Micra Sport starts at £10,495 and includes graphite-coloured 16-inch alloy wheels, front, side and roof spoilers, tinted headlights, front fog lights, six CD changer, and climate control.  A 1.4-litre engine is available for an extra £200, the diesel adds £1,100, while five doors add £650.

The £10,995 Sport SR, which replaces the 160SR, is powered by a 1.6-litre 110PS petrol engine that can accelerate to 62mph in less than 10 seconds, but still sits in group 6 for insurance. As well as the bigger engine, the SR adds automatic headlights and wipers, side curtain airbags and electronic stability programme (ESP).
