Making maps for RuG/L⁰⁴ with Google Earth

Step 1: Make a map with Google Earth

Start Google Earth. Under My Places, create a new folder. (See manual for more detailed instructions.)

Add one or more polygons. A polygon marks the outer border of the map. Anything within this border is painted with results in RuG/L⁰⁴. Use a single polygon for each contiguous area.
Add placemarks. These are your data points.
Optionally, add paths. Add more detail to the map with internal borders, rivers, or other paths.

Save your new folder as a kml file or kmz file.

Example: Iberia.kml with Portugal and Spain.

Step 2: Convert your map to RuG/L⁰⁴

Save and unpack the archive. It has all the files you need to draw maps with RuG/L⁰⁴.
