Interpetation of data files: The *.tsv files contain automatically head-corrected (via a 6D reference sensor) articulography data recorded at 100 Hz with the NDI Wave 16 channel device. The tsv files are synchronized with the audio (having the same name, but the .wav extension) and were generated by the NDI Wave device. The columns in the *.tsv file are - AudioTime (in seconds) - Measurement ID - Wav ID [the following columns are repeated for each sensor] - Sensor ID - Sensor Status - X coordinates (mm) - Y coordinates (mm) - Z coordinates (mm) - Quaternion rotation Q0 - Quaternion rotation Qx - Quaternion rotation Qy - Quaternion rotation Qz (only for sensor set as 6D) The *_ROTnorm.tsv files contain the same data, but were rotated according to the biteplate recording. The rawdata folder contains the non-synchronized files (audio: *.wav, movement: *.raw). The following recordings were made for each subject REC 001: Biteplate with reference sensor (10 seconds) REC 002: Palate probe (center line) with reference sensor (15 seconds) REC 003: Palate probe (complete palate) with reference sensor (20 seconds) REC 004: Mouth closed with all sensors on (10 seconds) REC 005: Trace palate (center line) with tongue tip REC 006 - 012: Dialect words (20 per recording, 70 words, repeated twice, random sequence) REC 013 - 014: CVC sequences [t|p|k a|o|i t|p|k] (27 per recording, repeated twice, random sequence) The sensor configuration on the 100 Hz 16 Channel NDI Wave Articulographer was as follows: Note that during capture all data was automatically head-corrected via the 6D Reference sensor attached high on the forehead. * Port 1.1: T3 * Port 1.2: T2 * Port 2.1: T1 * Port 2.2: Upper lip (inside) * Port 3.1: Lower lip (inside) * Port 3.2: [empty] * Port 4.1: Right lip (inside) * Port 4.2: Chin * Port 5.1: [empty] * Port 5.2: Biteplate Y1 * Port 6.1: Biteplate Y2 * Port 6.2: Biteplate X * Port 7.1 and 7.2: 6D reference sensor for head correction * Port 8.1: Palate probe (1) * Port 8.2: Palate probe (2) Biteplate configuration: # Xport # # # Y1port Y2port # # MOUTH # INSIDE MOUTH For the analysis, we only extracted the X,Y, and Z coordinates (rotated to the plane defined by the biteplate) for the T1, T2, and T3 sensor for the inferior-superior direction and the anterior-posterior direction.
