LAMSAS in the Netherlands

Introduction

LAMSAS is the Linguistic Atlas of the Middle and South Atlantic States. It is part of the Linguistic Atlas Projects, a group of projects dedicated to studying dialects of English as it is spoken in the United States.

Research into LAMSAS at the department of Humanties Computing in Groningen is lead by John Nerbonne. Our work focusses on applying computational methods to derive dialect areas without expert intervention. This work is part of more research into dialectology.
