The examples found include occurrences with weinig (few) and geen (no) as licensers. It should be noted that in these cases, few and geen never occur as quantifiers in the subject NP (thus, examples like (45) c) are not found), but are either part of an adverbial phrase or of the object NP, as in in weinig malse bewoordingen (in little soft terms) and geen malse kritiek (no soft criticism). Also, part of these examples are rather old; they were found in 19th century Dutch literature. This can be regarded as an indication that the strong preference for one particular licenser has resulted from routinization over time (cf. Cutler's (1982) squib Idioms: the colder the older).
