History of the Comparative Germanic Syntax Workshop

The Comparative Germanic Syntax Workshop as a series had its inception in Åbo/Turku, Finland, in 1986.
The organizer, Anders Holmberg, labeled this workshop Comparative Germanic Syntax 3, in recognition of two earlier workshops, the ones listed here as nos. 1 and 2.
No 1, in Trondheim, did not have a number, as noone knew what was in store.
No 2, in Reykjavík, was not numbered either, and was actually on Scandinavian comparative syntax.
Many thanks to Hannu Reime for unearthing the program of CGSW3!
